Hi all just like to share this info have been buying nic base from various suppliers for quite some time now and have had a few occasions were the nic has been less than expected. This prompted me to track down a nic test kit which has proved to be a valuable tool which I would recommend to anyone who is stocking up on nic base. The company in question is OxfordChemServe.com. Just ordered a kit too along with a pack of 4 glass stirring rods .... under £15 all in delivered I have started bulk mixing my own 24mg base to make it quicker when I mix up the flavours so this will be perfect to check if I am mixing to what I think I am as well as checking the strength of the original nic base....

That looks like the way to go though I am still messing about trying to find something I really like. I've just gave in a little and ordered a 30ml of virgin vapor buttermint cream but they only had 12mg so I'll have to add some nic to it. All this maths is hurting my head. Now I need to work out how much 54mg nic to add to it. Or 72mg cause I have that too. I presume adding 72mg would be better so I don't dilute the flavour too much. Depends what strength you want rednutt but if you want to make it about 18ish 3ml of 72mg will take it up to 17.45mg or 5ml of 54mg will take it to bang on 18mg. If you like creamy mint joosejoose softmint with a little vanilla custard tastes a lot like murray mints

Thanks stewarty. I get it now, so if I add 10% flavour to the 8ml base I just chuck in another 1ml vg.. And the end result is 18mg from 24mg base Yip that's the way I do it rednutt and am still here to tell the tale. When I started mixing at first I used about 10 syringes and measured everything EXACTLY it took ages as I was sh**ing myself I would poison myself. After some trial and error I found 20% ish suited me for most concentrates so started bulk mixing the base @ 24mg and never looked back

I think I need to work on my mixing techniques ! I've been putting nic base in 1 bottle then vg and pg and flavours shaking then starting on the next bottle! I like the sound of making a big batch of base at desired strength but to make the final result of 18mg what strength base should I make? Does it make much difference if I add 10 flavour or 20%. I like to vape @ 18ish too so make my base @ 24mg this allows for 20% flavour if I need less flavour I just make up the difference with neat PG or VG ie 10ml bottle 8ml base 2ml concentrate, the ones I really like such as Red Astaire I make in 50ml bottles and it is just a case of 10ml bottle of flavour and top up with 24mg base = 50ml of 18ish mg with no syringes or measuring at all

I mixed a 5 ml bottle of mint at 10% and a 10ml bottle at 15%. 10% weak and 15 too strong so if added together to make 15ml what do I get ? Put the 5ml of 10% in a 10ml bottle and top up with the 15% and you will have 10ml of 12.5 % Or mix a 5 0r 10 ml of 0% nic and add a little at a time till it suits you

Very well put Andy .... I can so relate to this post as will many other members.
When I started vaping I could never have imagined how much pleasure it would bring to me as it was only intended as a means to an end.
I keep getting asked by people when I intend giving up the vaping and usually get funny looks when I tell them that I have absolutely no intention of even trying as it gives me everything that I got from the stinkies and a whole lot more for a fraction of the price and so much better for my health.
This for me also has become a great hobby and I have been helped along the way by a fantastic group of people who always go the extra mile to help newbies and vaping veterans alike.
This forum is unlike any other I have been in and I am proud to consider myself 'Part of the family'

... that's me by the way. When I started I had 3 separate syringes for base, pg, vg, and one each for the flavours so 4 at least in all. Now what I do is use a honking big 10ml syringe, which is just narrow enough to fit in the 100ML bottles my PG VG and base are stored in, and pop a needle on for drawing out flavours. The only cleaning involved between infusions is to dip the syringe in a little water and blow it out onto a damp cloth kept for the purpose. As a bonus, I leave VG till very last, then instead of measuring it out, as it's so thick and gloopy, just pour it directly into the juice bottle. Never making less than 30ML at a time helps tremendously in this. I do of course glove up when handling base. Anyone got any further tips for quick 'n easy mixology? I remember when I started mixing too .... separate syringe for everything lol ... At the end of a mixing session had about 10 various syringes to was out. Because I now mix most juices @ 20% and 18ish mg I have started mixing either a 250ml or 500ml bottle of 24mg base using a whopping 100ml syringe with a short length of tubing so even with the 500ml bottle it is only about 6 or 7 sooks of the various ingredients. Have bought a load of 50ml dropper bottles and a couple of 50ml syringes so a mixing session now takes minutes. 1/ Draw up 40ml of pre mixed 24mg base with 50ml syringe fitted with tubing 2/ Squirt into 50ml bottle 3/ Add 10ml bottle of concentrate ... or just squirt in from bigger bottle to level of other mixed bottle 4/ Give bottle good shake 5/ Forget about for couple of weeks. Voila 50mls of 18mg ish juice @ 20% flavour in seconds Usually do 5 or 6 at a time by lining up the empties filling them all up to 40ml, then squirt in concentrate, label and wash out one syringe in under 10 mins for 250 - 300ml of juice which last for ages

If you mix the flavour too strong Mandy you just need to mix a small bottle of flavourless @ the same strength and use that to 'water it down' so you don't loose the strength of the original mix. Had a few problems in that department myself when I first started mixing as different makes need more or less added and I found out the hard way I know, that still amounts to a faff for me I'm afraid stewarty . . . I'm the laziest mixer/vaper ever. But it's a great solution. Not far behind you now lol .... most of my mixing is done with a 50ml syringe and guessing the concentrate. Usually do half a dozen 50ml bottles is under 15 mins ... and that's washing the syringe too !!!! Just tell myself I have developed a trained eye
