I have been sick and tired of worrying whether I will have enough batteries charged to last a day when I am at work or in the car or whatever, so I thought I would try a 'USB Pass-through' (Powers the E-Cig via a wire instead of a battery). You can get these for 901's or 510's ( eg OkSmokey). Great idea - only problem is that you can't use a charger to power them, only a PC - you need about 1.8 Amps at 5v. You can get adapters which will plug into the mains or one that will fit your car socket but make sure it can supply at least 2 Amps. You'll find them on E-Bay!
Happy Vaping (I haven't touch a cig since November 2010!!)

That's really helpful, Leftfield. Taken together with Perpetua's input, I feel much relieved. Many Thanks

Good to see you all and with so many helpful suggestions and information. I really am most grateful not say relieved that my nicotine intake is not as much as I think. Hi Chrissie - still using a 901 but have a 510 as well. Neither work particularly well without a lot of fiddling Hi DiscoDes - many thanks for your most helpful comments and - yes - it was VG and PG (Can't spell!) And Karma and Perpetua - thanks. You're right. It's time I used this forum a lot more.

The trouble with vaping . . . Much has been blogged and advertised on the advantages of vaping over smoking - and quite justified. But there are a few downsides. Suppliers take note! 1. Technology inadequately explained – for example, what’s single, double and triple atomisers and what are the advantages: why can’t screw threads be standardised so that batteries will fit all atomisers: what’s the difference between VP and PP and why don’t suppliers tell us which one we’re going to get or offer us a choice? > 2. Nicotine - When I smoked, I had my nicotine intake down to 0.1mg (SilkCut Ultra (or whatever they’re allowed to be called now). With vaping, I have to go to 8mg/ml to even get the hint of a throat hit. It scares me to think of what my nicotine intake is now! 3. E-Juice – why do some suppliers send out 0mg E-juice without a trace of flavour. Enough I have to reduce the nicotine strength myself without watering down the flavour as well. And, by-the-way, why is the cost of E-Juice entirely independent of nicotine strength – the most expensive component? ??? . . . and for newbies . . .4. Apart from fiddling around incessantly trying to ‘fill’ the tips and keeping a sufficient back up of batteries which never last long enough, the biggest single problem will be keeping it out of your mouth. You can ‘vape’ anywhere you like – even on your motorbike - so there’s nothing to limit your intake of nicotine. . . but it is so very much better than smoking!!!

Hi Chrissie - yep much better without the real stuff - especially at my age!! Thanks, Perpetua. That's very useful. I am assuming that the 306LR atomisers are a direct replacement for those I have for the 510. I'll go that way when I have used up my stock. Glad to hear that PG is the way to go. To tell the truth, I have no idea what I am using at the moment. I'll check up on that be a little more 'scientific ' about my choice in the future. Again, greetings to all and I hope you all stay healthier, wealthier and as wise as ever. Cheers

Hi to all - just to let you know that I am still about and, more to the point, still vaping - haven't touched a cigarette since I started and I have drawers full of them. I am moving from the 901 to the 510 - the 510 atomizers are better and longer lasting but the 901 gives a better hit (my opinion). Moving around suppliers to find the best and cheapest - OKSmokey is good, but PaddyPuff has been the best so far - and the cheapest! Love to hear from anyone with recommendations for good supplier(s) or, better still, where I can get the elements necessary to make my own. One final query - I do suffer from a lot of catarrh from these - anyone else? Is PG better than VG in this regard? All the best to the Moderators - Chrissey, Scylla etc. Good to see that the site is still up and running. Lots of work but much appreciated!!

Many thanks to all - Primo, Chrissie and Scylla especially - got it at last!! I was looking in the mouthpiece which was on the E-Cig when I got it and, of course, there was no lint!!. When I looked in the one I was actually using - behold. . . lint!! (Feeling a little embarrassed . . :=o <Thanks to Primo for making me feel quite so bad> Finally it has all come together - I note also that the e-cig has to be pointed downwards by 30o or so for best effect. I shall now puff (excuse me . . . vape) away happily now. BTW - even though I haven't been using the e-cig much til now I find I am automatically cutting down anyway. . . . happy days!! <maybe I'll get the hang of these smileys next!!>

Thanks to all of you for your help and encoragement - I'll not give up on this thing yet :-) The supplier was on ebay by the name of "electroniccigarettesforsale" - don't know who they are or how to get in contact with them. BTW Chrissie, there's no 'white fabric' in the mouthpiece - so how do I keep drops of juice in it - surely they'll just fall out the hole in the bottom!! Hi Scylla - got the Low (11mg) type - I really am very concerned not to increase my nicotine input. . . I'm hooked enough as it is :-(( Hi TinyTim - looks good - I'd be interested in any comments on it when you've tried it. I am serious enough about this to buy another one - no confidence in what I have and another person's experience is worth a thousand pictures!!
Many thanks to all - this forum is a GodSend - thanks Chrissie

Ok everyone - I have finally tried my E-cig but was so unimpressed I thought I must have been doing something wrong - rubbish taste, little smoke, no kick. . . hopeless. So I had a look at it - low battery, low juice . . yep I had it wrong ok!! So charged battery, replaced cartridge and it's now a whole lot better - still rubbish taste. I've been keeping an eye on the forum and been able to glean some information except for one point. . . . I smoke low tart cigs - really low (0.1mg nic, 1mg Tar). I would like to make sure that I am not vaping more nicotine that I have been smoking. Anyone able to relate amounts of nicotine in juice to equivalent amounts in cigs? Probably depends on E-cig (haven't a clue what type I have - white and says 'mini cigarette' on the white battery stem). Any help would be really appreciated. Just bought some Virginia flavoured juice from OK Smokey. Lord knows what I'll do with it!!!

Thanks, Chrissie - glad you liked it. It does have some relevance to smoking - "Live for Her". . . something I should be doing for my wife!! I'll have a listen to your links this evening - at work now and that's a No-No! I'm a bit narrow in my tastes - Classical and (horror) Country and even that's limited!! If you like power, try this:
