Ah yes reply #10. Still don't know what they mean by non-nicotine ecigarettes - I suppose disposable e-shisha type things wont be covered ...

Well quite, yet there appears to be a rumour about that they don't. I'm just hoping it has some substance.

about the only thing we don't know is if our government will suspend the regulations after enacting them for a period to allow various businesses to legally dispose of any stockpiles of "non compliant kit" (apparently there supposed to give 12 weeks notice to allow them to get rid of stuff they cannot return...) From the draft regs: "(5) The provisions of regulations 36 to 38 (product requirements etc of electronic cigarettes) do not apply to the supply of an electronic cigarette or a refill container where— (a) the product was produced before 20th November 2016; and (b) the supply takes place before 20th May 2017." para 50, page 27. So there is a 1yr grace period.

Actually I think the inevitable regulatory restrictions on equipment and e-juice are going to have far more impact on our vaping than these advertising restrictions which will mainly hit the big T companies that can afford proper ad campaigns. true - but the ad restrictions will affect soon-to-be-vapers terribly.

I agree with your interpretation Bobsbeer , and your caveats! I've always assumed "cross-border effects" to be some kind of catch-all phrase for social media and the like? Have you any idea of what it means? Edit: didn't read your last post properly doh! Ah well, while I'm here I'll add to your excellent suggestion to write to our MPs by suggesting an excellent site to do it by - writetovape.co.uk

I asked mine to request ... apparently its bene passed to the DoH for a response I wonder if anything useful will come of it ..... Exactly! If we don't ask them to do anything specific, they can just give us a "position statement" in response.

The points raised were: Anti-democratic nature of TPD. Lack of any assessment of impact Banning of basically everything on the market Increasing minimum pack size of cigarettes. Response: copy and paste crap not addressing the issue. Unfortunately the SNP is very pro-Europe. Ah, thought as much. We're learning that unless the letter actually asks the MP to do something specific then some seem to be handled by assistants (ecig letter? Send them this). That's why the website suggests an "ask" - even if its really convoluted. Its there to open up dialogue. Tbh I really struggled coming up with an "ask" that was doable by the MP that could help us. I'm sure mine isn't the best! If you reply saying that he failed to address some of your points AND asking him to do something (within his power), you MIGHT get a better response.

Just got what was clearly a copied and pasted reply from my MP. Which did not address the issues I raised. I already knew she was an oxygen thief so this was no surprise. Can you remember what you asked them to do? I've seen a reply to another vaper, when he followed up his c+p first reply which all but admitted that the actual MP hadn't even seen the first letter.

that line about eu states formally accepting the tpd is a joke, some unelected shills created and handed a new document to the president who signed it and it became a directive, member states then had 24 months to domestically enact it or be fined for failing to do so ..... and now theres an amendment that followed the exact same route into being with the proviso we can alter it to fit our nation or enact it as drafted by the EU ....not exactly voting for it then The EU Parliament did vote for it tbf.
