I've not had the aggression but have had a few people recently commenting on how terrible these things are. I don't read daily papers but suspect there's been some bad press. I've also had several comments on e-cigs being used to 'smoke' dubious substances in public. Fortunately, I've been in a position to correct misconceptions - you weren't Saturnalia, that must have been scary. I was thinking that, it looks like there has been a recent rash of scaremongering articles laying it on thick. I did get one man saying he'd heard "that stuff crystallises in the lungs". (No, he wasn't a doctor, chemist or biologist.) So I asked him what ingredients were in e-juice and which one causes the crystals? Of course he didn't know! But he had manners and was interested and we were able to talk about it. The peculiar thing is, he's a heavy smoker - seems weird to worry about vaping when everyone knows what cigs do to the lungs!?! And as for the "more dangerous than smoking" argument - surely any substance that was would not be on sale legally and openly, including in pharmacies!

I suppose some people are just that sad and they have to amuse themselves by starting aggro with a stranger. I'm probably not the first or last to get a piece of their tiny minds. They're usually cowards too, they seem to manage to hold their tongues around men who look like they could defend themselves.
Cor, I almost feel sorry for the pair of them when I think of them like that!

Sorry for the sad thread, but it has been an odd couple of days.
Twice in the last two days I've been hassled on the street for vaping. Men have come up to me shouting, saying "those are worse than cigarettes" and in both cases being very close to me, shouting in my face. It was very intimidating and if I were on a quieter road or after dark I would have felt scared for my safety.
Have you ever had anything like this and how would you/did you handle it? If people want to ask me about e-cigs I'm happy to answer. In fact when I'm at work and outside with the smokers, quite a few have been curious and I think I may be on my way to a couple of converts. But people acting aggressively aren't interested in facts and experiences and it would probably make them even angrier.
Short of hiding my vaping (which I suppose I could manage, but why should I have to?) what can I do?

There you go. I was going to suggest Joose Juice because at £1.50 for 10ml it is worth a try. But since other people on here like it, get the 2x30ml for £7.50 or so and if you really don't like it you can probably sell or swap it.

Capricorn. A mid-January one not a festive-season one, sadly!

Her I am a day and half in, and my new kit is performing very well.
The fire button has slackened off slightly but is still pretty stiff, but I've worked out that holding it back-to-front and using my thumb to press it works best for me.
It seems to be a powerful vape, I'm getting a lot of nicotine out of it. A couple of times I've felt slightly light-headed so I think I might be able to reduce the nicotine levels. Mind you, I always vape more at weekends than in the week so I just need to learn to go lightly on it now.
Only slight niggle is that when the output switch on the bottom is switched to off, it isn't quite flush with the base so the MVP wobbles when standing up. Switched on it is a bit more stable, but the switch could do with being a fraction of a mm shorter. Also the charging ports are open with no covers on so I'll need to be careful where I set it down. Hmm, it would be great if I could get a sort of rubber skin like the covers for phones, that just covers the base of the MVP. I'll have a google, someone probably already makes them.
But yep, that's the only flaw in an otherwise brilliant device.
My only other gripe is that spearmint juice isn't my thing. Funny as it's my favourite sort of mint in gum & sweets, but vaping it just doesn't do it for me in the same way. And aren't those Dekang bottles tricky to squeeze! What with that and the fire button, my hands are getting a workout. I think I need to look up grip-strengthening exercises.

Saturnalia you could coincide visiting your family with the next Carlisle meet BTW, the sun is shining up here today Thanks for the invite, but they're in South Cumbria. The still-disputed territory that was Lancashire about 40 years ago!

I have noticed this. I live in London and I have only seen 2 other vapers outside of meets. But my family is in Cumbria and when I visit, there are vapers everywhere and they have decent shops and stalls too. It's really taking off in the North (or some regions of it anyway).
I wonder if smoking rates before e-cigs make a lot of difference. I did notice as a smoker, especially after the ban, that it seemed to me like far fewer Londoners smoked than in the town I came from.
And the rent and rates on shops probably makes a big difference. Obviously here it's expensive to run a shop, but back home the High St has been 3/4 empty since the last recession so there are probably incentives to open a shop. (I'm guessing - it would make sense to offer a sweetener in a town that has sky-high unemployment and needs to attract visitors to its High St.) So if you are getting to the point of being sick of being a smoker, then you find a shop has opened near your work and you pass it a couple of times a day, and you are starting to see vapers out and about, it's advertising vaping to you. You can ask questions, buy a kit and get started very easily.

I voted for quality and consistency.
Range of flavours and the price could tempt me into ordering once, but if the product isn't good, I won't be ordering again.
And the customer service is probably what will make or break a vendor.

Dont let it happen Brend. I am at a loss. Im on the 4 spinners at the moment swapping em over all the time making sure there is always one on charge. Its a pain in the ar$e. I dont know why there arnt any more high capacity mobile phone bateries in units. I have become enamoured with usb charfing probably as it takes the same charger as my mobile. Ok so we shall change the subject to cheapest supplier of mvp v2 in the uk. Wont ask robby or we may end up with half of chinas stock in my basket and my order never even reached me last time. Nice to see you back in the community mate. Regards Jez At least you've got four spinners as backup, I'd be stuck with a couple of bog-standard eGos. At least I didn't give them too much punishment before pulling the trigger on the MVP, so they should do me long enough to replace the MVP in an emergency, but I'd rather not let that happen! Talking of which, I got mine from myepack.co.uk/mods/itaste-mvp-v2-0-metal-grain.html You might be able to find it for £1-2 cheaper somewhere else, but why bother when Myepack are so good? The only place I have seen it significantly cheaper is FastTech for £30, but that wouldn't be of much use to you. I've just bought my 1st MVP from myepack. Cheapest I could find it and they're a vendor with a good reputation too.

The MVP user I was talking to at work said he drains his smartphone long before his MVP so he uses most of its power to recharge the phone instead, and still has plenty of electricity for his vaping needs. Sounds like a brilliant machine!
For me, it's my MP3 player that regularly runs out of battery power on the Tube, and the MVP cable has an attachment that fits it, so I think that will come in very handy for me.
I found an online guide to the MVP functions and it's as simple as anything to set it all up! I used vapertrain's volts/watts/ohms graph and had a few puffs, and yes, I am impressed! Although my protank needs a clean out and a fresh coil, and I've been on the ginger flavour for so long I don't think I'm tasting it properly any more, touch of the vapertongue going on, but even so first impressions are very good!
I have a couple of pics but no idea how to insert them. Today really is a schoolday!

It's here!
I wasn't expecting anything until late morning, when our Saturday post normally arrives. So I'd set the alarm for 9 and was sent running dressing-gowned and bleary-eyed to the door at 8:10. Thankfully our loud doorbell didn't wake the rest of the house up - I wouldn't have been too popular for that! I had a good natter with the postie as he hasn't seen me in ages, before I started this job in December I was often home in the mornings and I became the street's parcel-signer. Poor neighbours, me resigning as Post Mistress right before Christmas!
(I was thinking of sticking a note on the door asking the postie to knock my window instead of using the bell, but I thought "no, I'll have been up hours by then!" and it was so windy and rainy last night there probably wouldn't have been a legible note left by now.)
So the MVP is on charge, it came charged up to green and the light is out now so it looks as if it is fully done. Arrived very nicely packaged in a solid plastic storage box, with the charger and an iClear30 and plinth. That's a big tank! I thought my Mini Protank might look a bit small and silly on the MVP, but the device isn't as big as it looks in the pictures, it's about the size of a packet of 10 superkings, so pocket shape and size. It's satisfyingly solidly heavy though. And the button needs firm presses. Bit of a difference from what I am used to vaping on, but feels like it will be good to use.
Off to have a look for any user guides - I've sussed out the volts/watts settings, but the little instruction leaflet doesn't say how the ohmsmeter works. I know I'll need that for getting the vape spot-on.
Quick question - I ordered Dekang Spearmint juice but I see the iClear is a plastic tank. Do you think that juice will crack the tank? I've tried googling around and it doesn't seem to be on any lists of known tank-destroyers, seems to be more the menthols than mints that do that. The only other one I have at home is Joose Juice Gingerbread and that is a very spicy one so I don't fancy risking that one in plastic. Though if anyone has tried either, please let me know.

Got paid and got my shopping done at about 9 this morning! 1 MVP in Titanium Blue, a glass tube in blue for my Mini Protank (I only have the purple one I'm using at the moment and it would be just my luck to break it just as the MVP is charging up! Got blue to be colour co-ordinated.) and a Spearmint juice. Paid £10 for Saturday-next-day delivery. Owch, but I bet if I hadn't, the poor suffering Spinner would expire at precisely the minute the local e-cig stall packed up for the night! I've also been to Joose Juice and got 2 for 1s on my favourites in 30ml, Gingerbread and Pistachio, and I got 10mls of Mocha, Toffee Cappuccino, Chocolate Fudge Brownie, Bubblegum and Vanilla. I haven't tried any of those except Bubblegum, and I don't think I left it to steep long enough, so will definitely be leaving this one a month. dan: Good point about battery life. Though I charge my ecigs at work and only take a couple of short vape-breaks in the day, and at home I tend to vape in front of the computer so will be able to use the passthrough. It's out & about weekends that will be the challenge, but I'll see how the first month goes. I'll need to get a backup at some point anyway, so I'll have a thing about the vapers you suggested. jaysey: I haven't got the Tumbler yet. Good to know it might not be that good, I'll stick with the Protank for the time being, it's working well for me. Though now I have seen an MVP in the flesh, it looks like it might look better with the full size version on it. Again I'll wait and see how it goes, I've spent enough on my habit this month I think! Well, goodnight all. Better get to bed as a long energetic morning of postie-stalking awaits! I bet I'll be awake at about 6, listening for every little noise outside!
