I've been vaping about as long as Pepperty, and my shinyitis has slowed down in the last couple of months. Here's what I suggest: 1. Understand that a mod is just a battery holder. Find some that you like the look of and be happy, they all do the same job. At some point you'll buy an expensive one - but don't feel bad about it, it will hold it's value well and can be traded if you ever get bored of it. 2. Learn to recoil. Do it as early as you can, as it will open up the world of rebuildables and once mastered this will cut down on your faff and daily expenditure. This is closely linked to: 3. Try a range of different atties. This is where clones are a godsend, as they keep the spend to a minimum. Try ones that offer something different - for example, a tank atty like a Kayfun, a genesis atty like a Kraken, a filler atty like a Heron and a dripper like an Origen. Work out what suits you, and then go down that path - you can trade the ones you don't like, and upgrade to the real deal in time if you want to. For example, I've tried most of the tank atties out there - kayfuns, taifuns etc - and I've found that while they are good, I prefer a filler atty. I was sorely tempted with the Rose clone group buys because I've heard great things, but I remembered that while the vape may be better, it won't be that much better. 4. You can only use one drip tip at a time, and they are a pain to trade. Have a selection, but don't go crazy. I have failed on this point miserably! Having typed all that, remember that anything you buy is not a cigarette, you're doing fantastically and so keep the postie busy if it helps you stay off the stinkies!

Ok, I felt like I was given permission by ruffdog to try my juices, and so it was the first thing I did when I got home! Banana and Strawberry (both FA juices, mixed at 7% with 1% of EM) are nice, I will enjoy vaping them but both could have a little stronger flavour, so I will mix my next batch at 10%. RY4 tastes of nothing - I didn't write down the percentage I mixed it at (although I remember I added EM), and it may need longer anyway, but it's back to the drawing board with this one. I wanted a deep flavour and I don't think this is it. My coconut and caramel is nice but needs lots more caramel. I only added 2%, and it needs much more. At the mo it tastes very coconutty, like a bounty bar. It smells nothing like vamp vape which was the target, but it's quite vapable. Maybe it needs more steeping. Harvest berry is lovely, I'll be mixing up more of this. I used the recipe from the forum mix calc and it works very well, similar to t-juice forest affair but less sugary. Raspberry cheescake is loooooverly - plenty of fruit flavour, with a smooth background and a touch of vanilla. Luckily I saved this recipe somewhere, so I can repeat it! PVC isn't ready yet but is already very vanilla-y, I know the caramel background will come with time. I can't wait for this to be ready! So generally a success! Very pleased that I have plenty of juices that I can vape straight away, some that will get better and only one that's just a bit meh. No juices!

I use the red efest V2 IMRs. My vaping style is quite short vapes, 4 secs or so, and I use lowish res coils (1 ohms) to still get that hit with such a short pull. They last a fair while - 3 or 4 hours - but like 14500s, once they drop off, they are pretty unsatisfying. I currently use 18500s as my mainstay, but still use 18350s when going out for a couple of hours.

Birds. Bear in mind that my cats are a year old, and have only been going outside since April.
It started with a starling chick - mutilated but still alive, I had to put it out of its misery when Buttons (or Feline of Satan, to give him his official title) dragged it in and played with it. Then it was a blue tit, then a blackbird.
Last week in the morning it was a collared dove - dead as a dodo, if only half the size (although still nearly the same size as FoS). He defended it with gusto, but I got it off him eventually and disposed of it in a sober way. Now, collared doves are always seen in pairs, and in the evening the other one of the pair must have come looking for its mate. Seeing an opportunity to reclaim his prize, Buttons had that one as well. I chased him around the garden, over the fence into the neighbour's garden before he gave it up when he realized he couldn't jump the high fence with it in his mouth.
Since then it's just been sticks (he loves sticks), but at this rate it'll be an ostrich next week, or a zebra.
Rosie, my other cat, is as lazy a house cat as they come. The only thing that gets her moving is food - and that includes insects and bugs. If it buzzes near her, she'll have it.

Maybe not for you Grandad, but for anyone else looking for a 14500 mod: www.vapegeek.co.uk/Bagua-mod-by-Tobeco-39.htmAn absolute bargain at £13. I had one of these and it has a lovely magnetic switch. It's 17mm, so there will be a bit of a lip with a spheroid or other 16mm atty, and it does not take nipple top 14500 batteries - you must use flat heads. Having said that, it's a great mod.

ionian how are they tasting 10 days in Simon ? I haven't tried them yet! I was going to wait for the weekend, but if I get a chance I'll have a little taste when I get home this evening and let you know. I had a sniff earlier this week and they were smelling good, but the proof of the pudding is in the eating and all that...

Thanks for that link, didnt work. But worked out that it is vape-atomizer-mesh.com with a 'z' Is Kanthal wire a good material to use? Is it the usual type to use? Sorry for all the questions, just trying to get my head around it Well spotted! I've edited it, glad you found it ok. kanthal is the usual type, it's what's in the premade heads and what we all use. Dont nut worry about the questions, you only learn by asking and we're happy to help!

Have a read of this to start with: allaboute-cigarettes.proboards.com/thread/28652/beginners-guide-own-coils?page=1&scrollTo=518540Lots to absorb there. Then go to www.vape-atomizer-mesh.com and order your wire - for 2 ohm coils, I recommend you get A1 Kanthal at 0.25mm. It's cheap, so get yourself some 0.3mm as well, you will use it eventually I promise! For wick, get down the supermarket and buy a bag of 100% natural (unperfumed) cotton wool balls. It doesn't have to be organic, just make sure it's untreated. 100 balls will last you years, and costs a couple of quid at most. Now, back to Super-Shiny's guide for you - find the guide on microcoils, follow it, and make yourself a 2 ohm microcoil using 8-9 wraps around a 2mm drill bit. Wick with the cotton (keep reading that guide!) and enjoy the best vape you've ever had. As you get more confident, you may choose to build lower ohmed coils and use a mech mod. That's what the 0.3 is for, but save yourself the postage and get it all together. Good luck - not that you'll need it, follow the guide and you will be fine. Plus it's totally worth it, don't get frustrated, remember practice makes perfect so keep at it and enjoy the tinkering!

The mini nemi clones look great and are cheap as chips - but they are 17mm, should that lip bother you I've had a few 14500 mods - 16mm ones are JM16 and Gus G16. Of these, the Gus is one of the best mods I've had - the button is beautiful, there's next to no voltage drop, and it looks great. The JM16 looked fantastic but I had noticeable voltage drop from the 510 pin - and no amount of cleaning or noalox would improve matters. Mine was the anodized aluminum one, I'm not sure if there is the same issue with other JM16s, but I would guess it's down to the pin design. I guess what I'm saying is if you can, get a G16!

Why not buy a small quantity of lower nic to see if it helps? If it does, you can invest in more - you can buy the right quantity to mix with what you currently have to make it go further (for example, 10ml 12mg + 10ml 24mg = 20ml of 18mg). That way you're not going to waste anything.
If you are concerned about it, it's surely worth the small investment needed to find out - you can't put a price on your health.

The VTC4s are hybrid IMR chemistry, as are the OOS VTC5s. If you're using mechs, these are the ones to go for as they are high current batteries, and will fire anything you throw at them with little concerns.
However, the saving isn't that great for batteries from china to have your order turned back after waiting months, I personally would just buy in the uk.
The kayfun is good - very well made, but on mine the juice channels in the base could be cut a little deeper for my tastes. I've heard reports that the quartz kit is not worth getting as it's a push fit and unreliable.
If you're looking for something else, I really like the heron but it's a bit big unless you have a mod that works with it as a hybrid.

going to have to think about this one, i need a pocket size set up as dragging my mech mods around at work can be a PITA It's a tall set up - the kayfun mini isn't exactly short, and the mod is the same height as a 18500 mod. It's thinner and perhaps more discreet, but not exactly stealthy.

Loving the look of that Black mini Nemesis In comparison to an 18650 would i get a days worth of vaping out of a 14500 battery ? an 18350 lasts me around4- 5 hours, 18650 easily get a full day I use efest 14500, which are rated at 700mah. They don't go as long as a 18350, and you may notice more of a voltage drop as they get worn down. I'm using coils around 1 ohm - you wouldn't want to go much lower - but they may last a little better with a higher resistance coil. AW 14500s are rated at 600mah, but the overall performance may be better - I haven't tried them. Basically you need to have lots of batteries if you're taking it out for an extended period of time!

Safe?

3.3v is a safe voltage to change batteries, but I wouldn't let it go much lower than that. For me, the vape becomes a little too weak at around 3.5v so that's when I usually make a change. I use coils around 1ohm.
