I've no idea about the drip tip (I quite like the adjustable one on the iclear), but according to Innokin, The iclear 30s is crack proof, even though it's plastic. I was a bit doubtful at first, but since then I've used acidic and other tank-cracking juices in my iclear 30s without any problems.
But I'm not sure whether you wanted better function or better aesthetics - the iclear 30s seems to function like a pyrex tank, but it still has that plastic look to it.

BLIMEY chris86 TWICE the size of a VTR, you'd need help to carry that, never mind a Pocket!!!!!! On the plus side, nobody has ever had a go at me for vaping it in public....They just tend to back away slowly, especially when I'm wearing my burka ???

Jeeebus chris86! That looks like a mighty beast! How big/heavy is it? It's surprisingly light, but it definitely isn't small! Maybe about twice the size of a VTR? The other thing is that I would never take it into an airport, because it looks suspiciously like a detonator!

A good alternative to the VTR would be the Thoathit Twin. It's a variable voltage box mod that runs off two 18650 batteries - my one regularly lasts for 4 days on a single charge! It's hand made in the UK and the maker (Rob) will happily service if you ever have any problems with it. The other great thing about it is that it's practically indestructible, so the chances of needing a service are pretty low. It costs £100 including postage. A mains charger and the batteries are also included in the price. It ain't a 'pretty' mod, but I reckon that mine will last for years and it does everything that I want it to. A great example of 'function over fashion'!

Hi and dhansak! It sounds like you've done some thorough research and are off to a great start. One thing to think about when buying clearos is whether you think you'd prefer a warmer vape (which is more like smoking a cigarette) or a cooler one. Top coil clearos like the Iclear 30, Iclear 16 and Vivi Nova often give a warmer vape, while bottom coil clearos like the Evod, Protank and Davide tend to give a cooler vape. Don't forget to pick up some spare coil heads at the same time as the clearos, because it will save you on postage and you will need them at some point in the near future. I think that going for a variable voltage battery straight away is a good idea, because it's likely that you'll want to upgrade to one in the future anyway. The MVP has a good reputation, as do the Innokin VV and the Vision Spinner - so it really depends on how much you're willing to spend. I agree with previous comments about it being good to always have a backup, so if you can afford a couple of batteries it's worth getting them. It's always hard to recommend juice to someone, because it's very much a matter of personal taste. All I can really say is not to be put off if you don't like the first one you try, because it can take a bit of experimenting to find juices that suit your taste.

Taking all the advice, I have sent for iclear16 clearomisers x 2, but couldn't see the 16 dual coil heads on the myepack site. I probably would have to find out how to use them too. I am wondering what the 16 is. I checked the usbs and there is no light on them to indicate whether the battery is charged or not. I phoned Vaportorium and asked about that. Guess what he said, yes, bring them in and I'll check for you. It takes me over an hour's journey to get there, but the upside is, from the info., you kind folk have given me, is that I can go into Carlisle market and meet the experienced man Ian you told me about. Come to think of it, maybe he would have those coils and could show me how to use them. However, after 2 sleeps now, I think I will have to get something simple and reliable, nice to look at, gives a reasonable amount of vapour and all of that without breaking the bank. If someone would be brave enough to suggest something to me, I would be eternally grateful. You are such a lovely bunch. It has been worth all the hassle to meet you all. Good work on getting the iclear 16's - you should get a decent quality vape from them. Here is the link for the spare coil heads on myepack: myepack.co.uk/accessories/iclear-16-dual-coil-heads-1-5ohm.html . Maybe if you email them, you could get them to add the coil heads to your order? Talking to an experienced vaper in person about how best to use your equipment sounds like a great idea - I find that being shown how to do things is often more straightforward than reading instructions. But in the meantime, there's loads of useful info on youtube: If you type in 'iclear 16', you will find videos explaining how to fill the clearomizer and change the coil heads. Please let us know your budget, so that we can suggest the best devices in your price range: I suspect that people will mention the Vision Spinner, Ego Twist and Innokin VV, which all have a good reputation and come at a reasonable price. Taking those first few steps into vaping can be quite daunting, because it feels like there's so much to learn. But do persevere and before you know it, filling your clearo and changing coil heads will feel like second nature. You've already done the hard part, which is making the transition from cigarettes!

Hmmm, a rather lukewarm review, but I like the look of it and will probably enjoy playing with the features, so for £35 I reckon that it's a good buy, even if it ends up being used as a backup.

Over the weekend I treated myself to a Joyetech eMode in black, which should arrive in the next couple of days. I got it from the classies at UKV for £35, which I reckon is a good price considering it retails for just short of £100. I was just wondering if anyone here had used one, and what your thoughts on it are?

Hi and crazyquilter ! Congrats on making the switch to vaping, keep up the good work! If I were you, I'd try to get a refund for the kit you bought, because you can get a lot more for your money! But don't worry too much if they won't take it back, because it should tide you over for a while. Don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions - everyone here is very friendly and helpful.

Waiting with anticipation for my Joyetech eMode. I wouldn't pay the full £99 for one, but at £35 from the classies at UKV I just couldn't say no!

Home made lasagne and a side salad for me tonight...followed by a nice dessert vape - maybe lemon meringue pie?

I'm a member of UKV as well as here. I like both forums for different reasons, but I do prefer AAEC for its friendly and non-confrontational atmosphere. Some people at UKV are very friendly and helpful, but others won't give you the time of day unless you are a 'serious' vaper who spends his life rebuilding and who owns the latest £200 mod. The endless bickering about clones can get a bit tiring too. I'd probably prefer UKV if I was heavily into the technical side of vaping, but I'm not, so I spend more time here where I can just chat with some friendly people in a relaxed atmosphere. And at least here I don't have to go cross-eyed reading about quadruple micro ceramic genesis coils and suchlike!
