I want to identify the manufacturer of the rubber grommets used in Nautilus BVC coils.
A formal request for the information would probably be rejected as they won't want vapers recoiling the coil heads.
I had arranged to get some made in silicone in the UK. Price was 36 pence each but they wanted £4000 to make the production tool
I doubt they would tell you who produces them and even if they did the manufacturer probably wouldn't sell you any there's probably a design patent on them which is owned by Aspire. Might be worth a shot asking Aspire if they can sell you a box though. I'm sure they wouldn't tell or sell. I'm hoping to get the info unofficially.
If no luck with an insider I'll contact silicone /rubber manufacturers in Shenzhen.
China & design patents!!! Where do all the clones come from?

Hi smifee How long do your rebuilt coils last you? And where do you get your fresh grommets from? The coils last for months with rewicking.
I get fresh grommets by selling stock BVC coils to people I make liquids for who recoil ( see what I did there ) at the thought of rewicking. They give me 10 used coil heads in exchange for 1 stock coil. What I make on selling the coils is gone when I give them a new one. I then recoil them and give them to others, I make liquids for, who are prepared or unable to rewick.
I used to get used coil heads from forum members until the recoiled ones started leaking in shirt pockets. Your shirts in fact. When I've finished redoing my vapers coils, backlog down to 150 now, I'll offer to do some for forum members again.

The recoiled heads I made were fine for the first year I was making them but then I was getting a lot of flooding, gurgling & sometimes leaking. Fingers crossed it looks like I have found a cure. I'll make a separate thread about it. I'll be holding my breath for this. So hurry up I think the flooding is due to the coil legs burning a line into the grommet. Repeated use of a grommet in several recoils eventually leads to a line the full length of the grommet allowing liquid to escape.
Using NR/R/NR coils and a fresh grommet for each recoil has been successful so far but it's early days.
Due to the limited space for a horizontal coil the NR legs reduce the Ohms. Most are coming out at 1.2 to 1.4 depending on the furkling needed to get rid of hot spots.
With the end of the football season and no cycling Grand Tour for a month this Armchair Sportsman should have finished the backlog by the end of June.

Thanks for the tags. I don't sign in so often these days as I have been using the same gear for over a year now. Shinyitus has gone and I really only want to read about iSticks, Kabukis, Nautilus & Minis.

I have a lot of coils in circulation with people I make liquids for. One guy has 30 coils and is under instructions to use 1 a day. He chain vapes so hard that when I got them back to rewick I had to put a new coil in. I prepared 127 coil heads for recoiling last night and have about 100 waiting to be drilled.
Getting on topic. I hadn't used a stock coil since the couple of packs I bought when I got my first Nautilus. As I was running out of the rubber grommets I got Angie to use some stock coils and tried one myself. No difference in flavour to recoiled but having to prime it was a PITA. It came with a tank I bought as a backup for a backup for ........... so wasn't recently produced.
When I have caught up I'll be offering 2 used for 1 recoiled to forum members again. So please don't bin them.

Spent my first day as an illegal drug courier. Cycled 20 miles delivering 24mg liquids in 30ml bottles It was scorchio but the downhill sections were great as the wind was strong. Uphill was a breeze as I just turned the power up so no sweat.

smifee has nic testing equipment . . . . perhaps if you PM him ragjoy , he might be kind enough to help out. Although as Dave says with flavour added the results could be skewed. Steeping in a fridge, will always take longer as the cool temperatures slow down the oxidization process - which is why we all store base supplies in the freezer/fridge/coldest place possible to inhibit that. You would get a better idea leaving these mixes just in a cupboard for a few weeks before refrigerating them. That said, I have seen numerous quality control concerns from this particular source . . . . . . I've only used the tests on claimed 72mg nicotine and have no idea if it would work on flavoured liquid.
All my failed mixes & those I get tired of get poured into a litre bottle. The result is called 'End of the Road' and the nicotine level is unknown. A friend likes it but vapes at 24mg. I've guessed that it's about 15mg and added nicotine to bring it up to 24mg. I'll try a test on it sometime.
Home mixers & commercial makers are at the mercy of the flavour manufacturers when they change ingredients. I use a Sherbet Lemon concentrate and the mixes had a yellow tinge. A new bottle of concentrate resulted in the mix being an orange colour.

smifee There is indeed an art to stopping them leaking and I have just sussed it late last night after losing the majority of a 10ml bottle through the airholes, coil has to be tighter than normal, you can actually only fill them to the bottom thread of the coil so it only holds around 1.6ml really but you also have to then tilt the tank up to tighten it fully to help the airlock. Finally got it going and it is actually a really nice vape but bejesus that liquid went down fast, one tank only lasted me a 30min drive this morning Glad I bought it to try and it will remain in rotation as it looks so purdy on my old silver Dovpo 20w Sorry for the delay in responding but I don't log in so often these days. I'm just so satisfied with iStick 30Ws, for 2 years, & Kabukis for about a year. My Kabukis hold 2.5mls easily and 2.75 if I'm feeling daring. I don't keep any tank that needs gymnastics to refill and 1.6mls means it's out the door. The drippers I use for testing new flavours hold 1ml.
Glad you enjoy the N2 but it sounds like you may have to tow a tanker on a long drive.

I don't know why I had to get one to try. I've been 100% Kabukis for ages now.
But I did and it's an incontinent barsteward that will be given away.
Only the second top fill I've tried and they both needed nappies.

With menthol concentrate at £20 a litre from Joose Juice I don't bother with crystals anymore.

I'm like a kid with a new toy.
I give recoiled coil heads to some of the vapers I make juice for so now when they come round to collect juice they have to bring ALL their coils to be recoiled. 50 down and about 250 to go.
It's easier to make the coil, cut the legs off and weld the NR wire to the coil.
When I've done them all I think I'll have to start kidnapping random vapers off the street to get my fix.

I tried using one of Mev's Wire Zappers a while ago.
When the 2 wires made contact there was a loud crack and a big spark. I'd jump and the wires didn't weld.
Found lots of posts on different forums about failed welds. A common experience was that beefing the Zapper up by adding another capacitor led to success.
Now I'm a technical numpty who doesn't even understand how electrickery works. BUT my next door neighbour is into electronics
He has added a 400v 150uf capacitor ( couldn't find the right symbol so a u will have to do ) and it works.
It wasn't the jumping wimp that was the problem it was the wimpy Zapper.
Now I have to replace resistance coils with NR/R/NR coils in about 300 Nautilus BVCs.

I've tried several RTAs and the reason they all got given away was the PITA wicking. I'd get one not to leak after several attempts. Do the same thing next rewick and they leaked. Shinyitis would have me trying the next one that someone said was a doddle to wick.
6 months shinyitis free now. Might be a bit of wishful thinking there though. Just ordered a Nautilus 2 to try.
It's not the faffing that's the problem. It's the unreliability.
I do a lot more faffing to get a reliable system. Dismantle a Nautilus BVC coil head, drill out 2 air holes, make a 2mm NR/R/NR coil, install coil and wick using cotton tape. The right amount of wick every time.
