I've been wanting one of these (cyan - mod only) for a while, but FT has had shipping in 15 business days on it every time I've looked. Just been and checked again and they have it as ships next day. Hmmm....do I trust it?? Still can't see any UK vendors that have the mod only for a fair price. Does anyone know if any of them are likely to get stock soon? Thanks

I also find it interesting how our tastes can pick up or not on different notes in a recipe/flavour . . . . at the time Grant created GVC, we actually had very few concentrate options available to us to purchase - as incredible as that now sounds, being totally spoilt for choice. I'd suspect that there are 2 ( possibly 3 ) flavours used along with some EM in the original, so perhaps it boils down to the base ingredients that make the difference. As long as it's an enjoyable vape, that's all that matters really. The addition of CCW's Egg Nog to VC is my current project - then I'm going to have a tinker with DV's Creme Anglaise, which I just had to buy. I've taken my custard trials back to basics as funnily enough I was pondering this the other week - how that when GVC was created you didn't have all the options available now. Also, I'm eating humble pie over my earlier dissing of CAP caramel - stand alone I still find it awful, but mixed with CAP VC it's amazing!! Currently vaping on CAP VC mixed with FW Tres Leche and a touch of CAP eggnog - it's very nice

I've been loving his vids and blogs as well - he's like a breath of fresh (blue) air Mixed up some Funfetti just over 2 weeks ago and am going to sample it this weekend. Good to hear your impression kevbev - am looking forward to it even more now! Also want to make some of his Bronuts recipe but Chefs has been OOS of choc glazed donut for ages. Will have to get some from elsewhere I think. I have though been mixing up my own donut vape (it's a choc custard donut that uses normal CAP glazed donut) which seems to be coming along nicely. Will post the recipe once I'm 100% certain it's done...

Ha ha no worries car147 - I'd totally forgotten anyway It's funny though - lots of people (seemingly you included) get the GVC taste from the basic GVC clone. I wish I did!!!

I've bought Classikool VG and PG a few times via their Amazon listing and it's always been delivered in a few days. Price is around £7/£8 for a litre of each

I'm glad you managed to come up with something to replace it. Mine was pecans rather than hazelnuts though in case that helps you get closer Gawd....Pecans.....the sod's law of mixing strikes again - there's always one thing missing from my concentrate collection Thanks for the heads up Cyberpixie I'll definitely let you know once I've had some of your version lairey - will be fantastic to have a replacement. I'll also try it using Pecan instead at some point

wooop wooooooop Nice one lairey - I have enough real Miss Chief left for one final mix after I use up the 40mls steeping just now. Been rationing myself cos I didn't want it to end Just out of interest - did you try using a touch of AP and sugar cookie in any of your attempts along the way? If so how did they turn out as I've wondered if they were poss ingredients?

I have to add Grants to the list - I know many people think it's old hat, but the stuff is like crack to me!! I've had many different custards before I started mixing and I do remember Charlies Devillicious custard and Dunfords Shorthorn as being 2 really good ones. Going the diy route - I've been over a year now trying to perfect my own custard!! I'm nearly there - though saying that I'll still carry on buying GVC because I can't get near it in diy. I've tried adding so many things to give it that GVC taste from pear to apple cider vinegar!! It's been a loooong labour of custard love Yep, Kreeds is definitely a very good recipe - after 7 weeks it became super tasty (it's really good after 3 weeks, but that extra steep makes it even better ) I'm with Perpetua - the longer you can leave a custard the better it will be.

Mrsmac it's sort of has that custard creamy type taste but the NY cheesecake makes it almost chewy - it's really hard to explain!! It's not creamy as in a TPA sweet cream or other added creams taste though. kreed you absolutely must make a bottle and not touch it for 7 weeks. Hide it from yourself, bury it in the park, I don't care!! Honestly, it's soooo good. And you as well car147 ^^

first one fine. ordered 3 more that turned up just before holiday. all 3 the threads are cut wrong, both chimney and bases and I have many kayfun parts. bad batch, fasttech giving me bollox as usual, want filming etc. so next month they won't of turned up!!! Ahhhh I must have one of the same batch. At least I now know that no further amount of scrubbing or lubricating the threads will make a scrap of difference How annoying!!

I think you might just be unlucky spacey, I have two of these bases and they simply substitute the original bases seamlessly. Chris' suggestions about vaseline or Fairy liquid, with a good rinse out afterwards are good ones, as is the old toothbrush trick. You are right, it is amazing to see so much oil from the lathing process appear when you wash them for the first time, but the toothbrush will help to shift the more stubborn muck and might move on the swarf and detritus from the manufacturing too Thanks Andy, will give it a good ol' scrubbin' when I get home tonight. I was so looking forward to trying this base out so hopefully yours and Chrisjw's suggestions will work

Yep, I always strip 'em right down, then leave to soak in some Milton solution for a few hours. It always amazes me to see the little globules of machine oil floating around. Sort of like a dirty lava lamp

Try using a smear of vaseline on the thread & screw it on bit by bit........screw down 2 turns, turn back one & keep repeating until it turns smoothly.....or a drop of washing up liquid......just rinse it afterwards. "Life...........is just a bowl of tricks!!!!!!" Cheers - I'll give that a go...
