Well I'm figuring that as I love baking cakes/desert type stuff and adding little tweaks till I find how it suits me, that maybe I can apply the same process to mixing eliquids....with the added benefit that I don't have to consume the majority of the damn cake afterwards anymore! (seriously, that's my one downfall of baking, one slice is never enough!! But I love the whole 'creating' process so mixing seems like a win-win ) Pepperty - I'm all about the flavours!! so many juices seem underflavoured to me, so I think I'll be starting on the higher side

Thanks Pepperty that's helped my stem my nerves Good advice re writing stuff down - thats the one thing I'd forgotten about in my eagerness to get started (I am that person who always makes endless lists and notes so would have been doubly annoyed with myself!!) Thank you CockneyVaper - only time will tell if I'm doing the right thing....or if it's a total disaster!!

So, after spending days obsessively reading and watching everything I can about mixing, today is the actual day I have a go I have my pg & vg, nic base (72mg), far more concentrates than I intended getting (whoops!!) and 3 sorts of sweetner (I figured that I needed them all as different recipes seem to use different ones...). I also got a bottle of MTS Vape Wizard as I'm sure that must be what's in juices such as Nicotickets CLS & Creme Brulee - to give that full on mouth coating creaminess (that sounds a bit suspect but you know what I mean ). Not planning on using it at first, need to gain experience in the basics!! Anyhow, wish me luck!! I'm going to try a simple custard to start (GVC clone, I lurve my GVC) - but I know it will be weeks before I get to try the results - so will also try a butterscotch/cream one as well. Hopefully that won't need as much steeping... What I am wondering is this - I see people say that if something isn't sweet enough or have enough flavour, then they add more flavour later - so do you just add another drop into the already steeped mix and continue steeping? Can you try it straight after adding extra or does it need added steep? Does doing this knock out your ratios of everything else? Am I just overthinking this and overworrying about it??

Thanks Greg - although Red Astaire has never appealed to me - I'm all about the custard/deserts Perpetua am liking the sound of Vanillin! Will have time to look into it all and start ordering later this week as I'll be starting a whole week and a half off work Ethyl maltol - yep maybe that's the one for me... Thanks again lovely people Am sure I'll have a ton more questions to ask by next Saturday!!

Good advice Perpetua - I was starting to get overwhelmed! I'll find one or two recipes that really appeal (infact you've already provided them - Buttersctotch Bliss and Custardy Lovechild) and get the bits I need for those. Re sweetner - I was reading in one of the stickies what you wrote about stevia - I think I'd prefer it over sucrolose as I can't stand that artificial sweetner taste in anything I buy. Also, what is Vanillin? Is it a type of flavouring or is it a sweetner? I just read a thread about vanillin powder ??? Thanks

72mg tends to be the cheapest when you consider how much you use and it also gives more flexibility with your mixes due to it's strength. The stronger your nic base the smaller volume of it you need to end up with a given strength of your final mix. Ahh, that makes sense now - cheers GregI've been avidly reading all the stickies for the last hour or so, trying to build a shopping list

Thank you all for the advice I guess now I have to buy mixing ingredients...another whole new world to learn about babs when you say you bought the wrong nic base - does that mean there is a standard one? Is it the magic 72mg? (why 72 though?, I don't get it!?) Perpetua oooh that Butterscotch bliss sounds very nice Is it just a case of doing lots of reading around the interwebz to get an idea of which flavourings are best? I love buttercotchy, custardy, creamy type flavours that I can really taste. With regard to the 'sweetner' though - do you always need to add some or are some concentrates sweet enough not to need it? Also, which is the preffered sweetner if I do need it?

Thanks Greg - have had a look at the calculator. Hmmmm Q - you made it really simple I honestly didn't think it could be! It's the 72mg base and then some say 54mg base that's confusing me - is it just differnt companies that have different mg bases? Perhaps I'll pass on trying to use 8 Bit Vape and have a proper go myself. Mods - I'm sorry - I didn't intend this as a 'mixing' thread or I would have posted it in Mixology - but now I'm swaying that way...

I've just had a look at their site and to be honest it is harder to mix there than it is in real life, if you can make sense of their website you will be able to mix your own without ANY trouble Haha Q - you may be right there! I thought I would be taking the easier option doing it via their site instead of venturing into diy, but I just got so confused....I thought I was being really thick!! It's just the whole Maths thing - it just makes my brain hurt looking at percentages of bases and flavourings etc. Plus how to then get the nic content I want by dividing stuff = Aaargghhh

Thanks Greg - any advice on strength of flavouring? So many eliquids I've tried are lacking in depth of flavour which is why I want to try doing it this way.

Nope, no special date - was the 1st Feb this year. A couple of weeks earlier my brother had bought a starter kit and not smoked since getting it. I never had any intention of giving up smoking (even though I always knew I should, I just didn't want to). So, I bought the same starter kit - just to see what it was about - and from that day on I haven't smoked!! Quite incredible really
