Trying to choose a battery for your new shiny thing? Blooming minefield isn't it? So many different things to consider. It certainly isn't easy. What makes things worse is vendors quoting the maximum Pulse rating, when what we're interested in is the CDR (continuous discharge rate). Once onto your journey you will come to understand what all the numbers mean, and build yourself a collection of 'good' batteries. In the meantime there is NO easy way to learn.
To that end we've compiled an easy 'reference' guide to make it easier to choose a battery. They are listed by power (for regulated mods) and minimum coil resistance (for mechanical mods) to make it easier for you to make those first choices. The wimps have already been weeded out. Once you know what power you need the only 2 other things you want to consider are the mAh (higher generally gives longer running times) and the price.
So what if my regulated mod needs 2 or 3 batteries? Divide the mod's power by 2 for 2 batteries, or 3 for 3 batteries to make your choice. So 3 LG HE4s would be good for a 150Watt 3 battery mod.

tim if it's only showing 13.5watts in mech mode then you have a problem elsewhere - I suggest the 510 connection. At 0.5Ohms you should get somewhere around 30Watts. A bad 510 would also explain the wattage drops.

Alternating between T-Juice Minty the Toff in a Smok VCT (0.5Ohm) on a Nemesis, and Mrs Lord Grindrod's Parkin in a Rose v2 (0.8Ohm) on a Smok M65.
How can I possibly better that??

Just a heads up, your phone must have Bluetooth 4 version on your phone, or it wont connect at all. It`s the same with all SMOK bluetooth mods. On that particular mod the atty is wayyy too close to that display. If you use a dripper, you`ll know that you can get condensed vapour around the atty and I wouldn`t like to have to put the display seal to the test. Then there are leaks from the atty etc. Don't forget the tank-cracker juices. I wonder what they'd do to the screen's cover?? |

I'm using a pair of samsung 30q's at the mo' in a dual mech box. They seem to be performing well in my reserved 1.3ohm range (shucks) I did read a little whisper that they tested good for 20amp c with a little to spare..... hmm. Picked them up from ecolux. The LG HG2's btw are impressive in normal use. At that resistance they would be good, the extra capacity serves you well I bet. 20Amps? No way. Even Norbert states the max continuous is 15Amps. Maybe someone tested one that was good to 20Amps, that doesn't make them all safe at 20. Samsung should know, they specced it. |

sydsut, the 35Amp 18650s are obviously rewrapped 20Amp cells. Sorry, obvious to me as there are no 35Amp 18650s out there atm and an as yet unknown name (Shockli) The 26650s are good though, seem to be rewraps (as are the Imrens and Keepowers) - but remember 30Amps continuous. I don't know how others feel about it, but torchy is losing favour with me by quoting the pulse ratings. Prefer to deal with Norbert who actually makes some effort to test and publish the results for all he sells.
