Was deliberately avoiding that thread for a few days; got a thing for anything in the colour green... now torn between trying the CE4s, the new Clearomisers, and the Stardust... of course, it appears Gotvapes are out of stock of pretty much anything right now anyway... Still, payday (aka Jason-rape-my-wallet-day ) is Friday...

On the Lavatube breaking issue, Was it possible that pressure was put on the tank when in your pocket effectively bending against the screw thread? this can prize the connector from the tube. It's extremely easy to forget it's there when you're sitting down. I destroyed a clear dual coil by sitting with it attatched to a mod in my pocket luckily the dual coil gave out long before the mod did but the first incling I had of a problem was when juice started soaking my leg Just something to tick off your check list when you're trying to figure out how it broke Now I'm not saying I'm fat (because it's just the way I'm sitting, you understand ) but yes, it's possible there was some pressure being put on it. However, in a shirt pocket I'd expect to have to put a lot of pressure on it to get it to prize off that easily - I don't keep my kits in my trouser/jeans pockets, so can rule that out - it's always an inside jacket pocket, or shirt pocket, for ease of reach. Plus I'm considering one of those gooseneck tips so all I have to do is look at my pocket and press a button . [edit] For clarity, the wonkyness of the connector was noticed out of the box... just sayin' y'know [/edit]

Okay, this is gonna sound a little bit odd, but have any of you Lavatube users had any issues with the build quality? To be a bit more specific I'm going to have to go into a little more detail as to why I'm asking. Ignoring the fact that my Lavatube, when received, had a definite lean to the position of the 510 connector (noticeable when attaching a carto, less of an issue with a tank), I had a little "accident" with mine today. While at work, I tend to keep whatever kit I'm using in my shirt pocket. I also am in the habit right now of wearing a jumper (it's still a bit nippy out, dontcha know, and I've still not had official permission to vape at my desk...). When I went out for my afternoon vape today, I found that the tank and 510 connection (along with the black cap itself) had separated from the main body of the Lavatube, leaving it attached only by the red and black wires (so far I've not found the plastique, but will keep looking ). Cannot for the life of me figure out how it managed to come off - I'm not rough with it, and only tighten to biting point and no further. I popped it back on as soon as I found it like that, but during the course of my afternoon vape, at the end of what actually turned out to be my last use of it for the day, I heard and felt a "snap" akin to what you get when something earths itself... Kinda scared to use it again right now (not sure if I can get anything done to it under warranty or not - am in the process of digging out the documentation right now...) Currently the top feels more or less secure, although it's easy enough to remove it when the tanks connected. So, like I said, anyone else had any "issues" with the build quality? (Gonna use this as an excuse to save up for a Provari or GG now )

Gotta be said, am tempted meself. Of course, I'll have to get something decent to put it on (don't think it'll look quite right on my lavatube...)

Incase anyone missed it, here's the follow up from Tony. I particularly like the way this article paraphrases something Leftfield said near the start of this thread My own opinion? Until they ask me to take part in one of these "studies", I'll take anything and everything I read on the subject with a pinch of salt, the size of the pinch dependant on the relevance of the data to hand. For example, the original article doesn't reference anything comparing the "inflammation" of the airways whilst vaping to the same thing while smoking the old dirtys. Bearing in mind most of us that vape seem to have acknowledged the fact that it's still not exactly as healthy as not smoking, all this article actually says to me (on the surface of things) is "Vaping isn't quite as healthy as not smoking or vaping." Nothing else. The second "rebuttal," while it supports what I've said above, is nothing more than that - a rebuttal. It's a good one, pointing out some of the less airtight areas of the first article (alright, so there arent really any areas of the first that are airtight), and were I to find anyone quoting the first, I'd point 'em at the second, but on the other hand it doesn't actually have any real scientific backing either. Aside from the obvious "no 4000+ additional chemicals being inhaled", and no carcinogens and eliminating second and third hand smoke effects of course. Now, do a proper study, over the course of, lets say, five years, with a group of smokers, a group of vapers, and a "control" group of non-smoke-or-vapers, and gauge the relative health of each group over that time, and maybe they'll have something worth looking at. And I'd be happy to be part of that study. Especially if it meant free juice for five years . But until then, I'm glad I've moved over to vaping rather than smoking, I am definitely feeling better than I did on tobacco, and I'm going to continue getting my nicotine this way rather than any other. It is still essentially only nicotine replacement, after all...

Once again, thanks for the advice guys. Plenty of food for thought, some ideas that may well bear fruit. Gonna be a while before I can get set up for it though, but at least I now know the areas I need to research more Time to have a vape and a think...

Thanks for the information guys (and the luck wishes ) - it's precisely the kind of feedback I need, and food for thought... Will keep y'all posted as to progress. With regards to the coffee shop section, at the moment it would be limited to drinks only, but again it's an aspect to which I'll be giving some serious thought, as part of the concept would be as a place people can actually vape indoors in public, helping raise the profile even more... Thanks <edit> Jason - what precisely is a TW franchise? Got a lot to learn, and this might be a starting point... </edit>

jason - Bricks and mortar; there's enough web based suppliers out there for the moment, and although I'd probably offer some limited mail order functionality, I'm more interested in opening a place where people can come for information, to actually try flavours before buying, and possibly even running a small coffee franchise on the side ("Come in, try and buy your flavor, then enjoy a coffee indoors while vaping!"), while stocking the majority of vaping goods and accessories (or at least a decent selection). @alba - thanks, this is the kind of stuff I need to know as well, although like I said I'm not looking at it as a straight web-based enterprise...

I'm giving some thought to the possibility of opening a vaping store, but need a bit of advice first regarding pretty much any and every aspect (I've worked in shops/clubs/pubs but never actually run one before, ignoring being left in charge for a day or so...)
So... where to begin? I'm open to all suggestions on all aspects, as at the moment it's in the "Dream" realm rather than the "Opening next week" realm, but it's something that I'd really like to get into, as even though I'm relatively new to vaping, I think this is something I could really get behind and enjoy. But before I take the next step, I really do need some advice please...

Woohoo! 30 whole days without burning tobacco. Quitter's Flu has almost gone, and am definately feeling a lot better for vaping (in more ways than one). It's also been 30 days of talking to other smokers about vaping and the benefits. In fact, I just had one at my desk asking! Hahaha. It's quite funny really, but it does show that smokers want to quit the stink, just not the nicotine. Grats from the one who's one day ahead of ya (More or less anyway )
