Not a criticism of you tpat591. I wonder how many of them are out there waiting for the SS connector/wire to tarnish up and give false resistance readings etc, really was a crap way to connect up the ground. I agree completely. If they had just put that wire loop they made under the nut that held the 510 in place & tightened it down it would have made a good ground & was probably what they meant to do when they designed it that way, but upon assembly the wires probably twisted as they tightened down & a genius line supervisor just told the workers to snug it up between the nut and the center pin cap without giving them washers to make up the difference. You know as well as I do that after CNY there are a lot of QC issues due to untrained labor. The bosses probably had no Idea they were going out that way.
As far as I know WierdWillie was the first who had received one to actually pop the top cover on it. Once I saw it, I had to post it here to inform.
You make a very good point though. Nicole will probably do something with her review once she has a better idea what the Bosses at Waidea will decide to do about everyone who bought their product already. We already posted warnings on the threads about it. We got word to the Bosses on how to fix the units and they are instituting the changes on the manufacturing lines. I think that getting a Chinese clone manufacturer to fix a manufacturers deficiency in a matter of days is a pretty big feat in itself that I'm pretty proud of.
All the units people bought carry a 6 month warranty, but they need to ship back to China to get them fixed & considering how easy it is to fix, most of us who are mechanically inclined will probably pop the top ourselves and stick a washer in it to sort it rather than send it back & be without it for a month & half.

That thought didn't even occur to me. I was just trying to use the power of the press to force a clone manufacturer in china to change a serious deficiency in an otherwise well built product as quickly as possible for the good of the community.
I don't really know her well enough to speak to that. I would think she might put a note on it that this issue came to light, she relayed the information to Waidea, and what their response was. I read another review by her that she later added a note at the end when something like this came up, but she never changed the original text of that review. I can't remember what product that was for though.
I do know she was surprised when I PM'd her and she had no idea about the problem. I only sent her the PM about the issue just before I posted that I did here. She told the boss at Waidea Sunday night / Monday (morning in Shenzhen) & PM'd me back that the info was sent. She popped on the ecf thread & posted tonight the followup that I posted here earlier. That's all I know.
Frankly what she does with her reviews isn't really my concern.

Nicole popped on the ECF thread to give us an update:
I knew she would be able to get them to take corrective action quickly on implementing changes in subsequent manufacturing runs after her review!

Willie had the right idea in sticking a proper floating pin from a FDV into it. Waidea said when they tried a floating pin they weren't happy with the results but you would probably get a better connection with the floating pin & a proper ground. Willie reported back & apparently the FD V4 floating center pin was too long & bottomed out on the battery positive pin so the effort was a failure. A V3 center pin is short enough but the insulator diameter is too small to screw into the existing 510 barrel.

I already PMed Nicole to tell Andy at Waidea they need to correct this immediately. Hopefully they will do so quickly in future manufacturing runs.
