prr thought I'd give an update on this! I pulled apart a few more of the kanger heads to find they all had the same issue. Gunked up, most were black as coal! I found several coil legs snapped with the bottom coil resting on a working leg - probably the cause of the resistance issues.
Got myself some kanthal a1 0.4mm thickness wire, and built a coil using that builder guide and your instructions and hey presto new working coil!
The guide gave me 8 wraps to get 1.2 ohms but it's settled at 0.7/0.8. Working perfectly fine and vaping happily at 12W
I will try the salted caramel juice to see if the cotton wick is able to handle it any better - but at least I can now remove the cotton to dry burn and re wick!
Thanks for your help mate saved me hundreds I'd have spent buying more of the kanger coils only to have them die in a few days!

Perpetua it is beautiful juice but yes seems to spell doom for coils, silica wicked ones with seemingly very cheap thin coil wires anyway!

I am thoroughly disappointed in these new dual coils.. they're terrible.

My old single coil EVOD heads were better. Lasted 3 weeks before dying and could be dry burned. These are just weak as hell.. much thinner wire and obviously too frail for the job if the legs are snapping (probably why the resistance goes up, lack of connection!!) And the silica packed to the brim around them seems to do nothing but gunk and clog them with no air for them to breathe!!

That seems a cool idea.

I'm sure I've also seen people re-coiling the kanger head bodies too which could also be an idea. Was it you prr that does this?? It was on this forum for sure.

If the answer to this issue really is "kanger just make shoddy coils" I would be really disappointed but accepting of this as the only conclusion.

Was so annoyed when pushing the 3 pieces back together didn't fix it. The web post I found shouting it as the solution seemed so scientific, describing how they measured the resistance of the base and it was too high but changed when they pushed them together again.. bahh.

My aero tank mega has a very strange issue

The coil resistance continually increases after a day or two of use.. eventually goes over 2 ohms and then goes pop and dies.

Ive tried several things..

Dry burning to remove gunk. This only accelerates the increase of resistance and/or burns away the silica wicking inside the head - no good.

Cleaning out the aero tank mega, including the 3-part airflow base, everything scrubbed with a cotton bud - tried with nail varnish remover and with ordinary water.. no good.

I read somewhere that sometimes the 3 part airflow base expands and pulls apart a little because it is only press fitted together.. and lightly hammering them back together fixes the issue..
Did that - notably less spacing between the 3 pieces but does not fix the issue.

Finally I have tried moving the adjustable pin inside the airflow base 510 adapter.
No change.

The mod I am using is the subox mini - do not have another mod to test with.

Subtank RBA is being read correctly a 0.5 ohms and vaping happily still, so.. definitely the aerotank or its coils

If the Kanger QR code isn't leading to a website that loads.. that mean they're not genuine?

It's just gone to 2.1 ohms...

It's dripdropvapour 60vg/40pg salted caramel.

Would it gunk this quickly?? I can try dry burning it..
