I feel really sorry for the young ones today, they have a full on 24/7 life and they just dont know how to stop. phones, playstations and TV all keep them plugged in to something and they rarely sit, think and reflect. Being forced to goto bed at 10 oclock as nothing was open or worked after made you make your own time fille dwith other things like reading. I think younger people have lost a lot of social skills due to the electronic age. A lot of these folk struggle to read and write due to the advent of the awful text speak. I find it lazy, childish, unintelligent and an abomination to a wonderful language. |

Great thread Raffles. What I miss: Long hot summers. Properly cold and snowy winters with sledging and snow ball fights. Friendly staff in shops. Being able to sort things such as car insurance in a local shop as opposed to spending hours on the phone or internet. No 24 hour shopping. No Sunday shopping. Polite people. Makes me sad to even consider this topic. |

Stopped going to the local when the smoking ban started, couldn't have a pint without a fag. Now most evenings when I get home from work I just chill with a bit of tv/web, Fridays I like to have a couple of beers have a nosey around here and couple of other forums, sounds quite boring I suppose, but most weekends my two grandchildren stay over, 3 and 5 year olds so that keeps us busy !!!! if your local is the one I think it is they allow vaping. |

Nothing against blowing clouds, I do myself but I do think there's a time and place for it. do it down Camborne way and you'll get told off by rollie smokers who have comparable numbers of brain cells and teeth. Approximately about 9 between them. |

Oops, I forgot to mention that I'm not surprised someone complained. We are talking about a workplace where a woman once made a complaint about someone being gentlemanly and holding a door open for her. Sexist apparently.The lad in question got marched away from his team by a shift manager and politely asked not to hold doors open in future. Thankfully the woman no longer works here! 'no, I'll wait my turn thank you, you sexist pig'  Hope the lad ignored the advice, and continues to be a 'gentleman'.
