Aah, thanks so much for the welcome's! And thanks for all the advice - as soon as I get my next pay (yes, I am always broke!), I'm going to get started. ps. Having a horse and smoking 20 a day are expensive hobbies!! I definitely couldn't say I would stop straight away as I am just so addicted and have weak will power...but I'm hoping the steady approach will work for me - some of my smoking problems are related to boredom I think ie: I nip out of work every hour for a cig...so think I will still continue to do this with the e-cig at first and then try to break that habit as I go along... Once again, thanks everyone, so nice to 'meet' you all!

Once again, thanks everyone, so nice to 'meet' you all! No wonder you are always broke lol. Keeping a horse is an expensive hobby. Welcome first of all and second if you smoke 20 cigs a day in UK thats about 40 squid a week so I would advise you to buy a decent ecig. Something like a Tornado, Ego, or Riva as mark my words if you buy a little 510 or 901 it won't be long before you get fed up charging batteries as I did and a lot of others who may or may not admit it. So spend a little bit more, get a decent ecig and buy some sample e juices from James and you will save money. Just my opinion of course and others may not agree. Good luck in your endeavours whatever you decide. Ken.

It took me one week!

Hi always, and welcome to this lovely helpful board! I took up vaping about 3 months ago. As you propose to do I gradually reduced my real cigs and got along fine like that, finding i was reaching for my e-cig more and more until I'd almost cut out real cigs completely. The only downside was that before I quite got to that point I went to Greece for 3 weeks where cigs are cheaper and everyone seems to smoke, and I 'fell off the wagon'. Still, I'm back on course now and prefer to spend my spare cash on e-cig supplies. I bought the 901 and then a bit later bought the 510 to try. They are both good, but my personal preference is still for the 901. And I second what everyone else has said about the juices from paradise vapes, nothing else hits the spot like those. Whatever you decide, go for it, I never thought ANYTHING could get me off cigs!

Kenny, your advice is spot on - but with newbies I just don't have the moral courage to tell it like it is scylla

Got to admit I find it really difficult what to recommend to newbies these days. I guess a lot depends on how much they are happy about spending on something that they don't know if they will get on with. So I still tend to recommend the cheaper 901/510's that I know at least work well, even if they aren't as good as the more expensive Tornados/eGos/Rivas.

Whilst I agree with you Chrissie cigarettes are expensive and even a moderate smoker could afford a better model on a weeks smoking money or a little bit more. The 501 stopped me smoking but it took more determination and on hind sight it was a waste of money other than its a back up as the nearest you are going to get to smoking a real ciggy is with one of the better mods. I wonder how many give up purely because they are not satisfied with the smaller ecigs. Cheaper as in all things is not always better. Just my thoughts of course and others may disagree. Ken. x

Well I appreciate everyone's point of view - but this has been a really helpful starting point....as a 'newbie', it is a complete minefield and without you guys to just kinda shove me in the right direction I would have been mooching between suppliers for weeks making lists of the pro's and con's.....I'm shockingly terrible at making decisions!! To be honest, I'm still sort of deciding as keep finding different one's!! Oksmokey's 510 prima is a cracking price....the only place I could find a tornado was at Totally Wicked and the Riva at Liberty Flights (but at £42 this is out of my price range for the first go...I'd only really be happy at spending that when I knew I was getting on ok with vaping).... Anyway, I don't get paid for another 2 weeks, so still got plenty of time!

Yep at the end of the day the choice is yours and I certainly can recommend OK Smokey for good service and goods.
Best of luck Always...You won't regret it and yes the Prima is a good price.
Ken.

Hallo, I have to agree with Kenny, I started with a look alike cig abd within a couple of weeks progressed to a 510 and a 901, a few weeks after that a Tornado and would not change. You might find you change after a few weeks. The Tornados and Rivas may be more expensive but do last much longer and if your a heavy smoker, I think the smaller ones will be false economy. Try them but if you like the e cig, when you replace them go for something more substantial. All the best.

In essence I agree with Kenny - although the choice a couple of years back for a decent ecig was really almost only the 901 - I reckon that little ecig got many a smoker off of cigs. We're lucky now to have the Tornado/Riva's etc - would I have bought one as my first ecig, I honestly don't know Looking back as a then hardened smoker I would have been extremely sceptical that anything could stop me smoking and wouldn't have wanted to waste my money on anything that didn't work, despite spending a truly horrific amount of money on cigs every month. With the benefit of almost 7 months of vaping and zero cigs - I can't believe that I ever had any doubts and would say go for the best ecig your budget can take, best decision and purchase you'll ever make.

This has hit the nail on the head really....although I know that spending £40 on a Riva is alot cheaper than a months worth of 'real cigs', the thought of buying it, it not working for me, then still having to spend on cigs is terrifying!!! However, saying that, after another months horrific budgeting....I've finally settled on the Riva 501 from Liberty...and some juice from Paradise....here's hoping!!! When I get it, I'll report back Once again, thank you to everyone for your help and advice...its all been much appreciated.

You will no doubt get a buyer if you decide it's not for you. There's buy, sell & swap thread on this forum.

Always, I truly believe it's a decision you won't regret and a life changing moment awaits you. If you have any questions or queries don't hesitate to come back and ask any questions - I do still as there's always something new to learn, be it a vaping tip or a good deal.
