Hi Alwaysbroke - welcome aboard. I am a relative newbie vaper - 4 months now, and haven't looked back. Lots of really useful help and advice in here. Don't be fearful of posting, or asking numpty questions even. I know I had loads and loads when I first arrived.

Thanks Chrissie Thanks Hanow I fear many many numpty questions coming on....I'll get started with..... Have you any tips for me on getting used to an E cig?? Is there anything I should be aware of? I guess I'm nervous as I'm such an addicted smoker and can't quite believe that these are as good as everyone says I suppose!!! If I just kept the cartridges when they have run out and then top up with juice, is that a more cost effective way of doing it? Thanks so much for all your help - I had no idea the world of e-cigs is so big!!

*Waves to the lovely Hanow * Always, my best tip is to get started Honestly, I do still remember when I bought my first e-cig kit in July 2008 - it was out of desperation, I was such a heavy smoker. But blimey I was so impressed just after the first drag on it Yes, you can top up your cartridges, over & over again. And as for how big the e-cig world is, take a look at ECF : - www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/Now that really is a tad confusing these days, especially for anyone not in the USA.

I would pay the extra & buy Riva 510. I can't praise it enough. It was my first e-cig & I haven't looked back. Bought a screwdriver sometime later, but I can't really get away with it. I've stuck with the Riva since.
Good luck with your choice & let us know how you get on.

A-ha! Thanks for that!!....
Now, I'm really sorry to be asking all these daft questions...I'm just keen to get started!!
So can I ask, what is the difference between the 510 and DSE 901?
Also, at a 20 a day heavily addicted smoker, would I go for the high or medium strength liquids?
thanks again, I really appreciate everyone's help.

I would go for high strength liquids to start off with, you can always get lower strengths later if you find they are too strong.
James at Paradise Vapes sells small 5ml sample bottles, so it might be an idea to get a few of each strength.
I used to smoke more in the mornings, so I tend to vape the higher strengths then and reduce the strength as the day goes on.

Always - you won't know until you try of course. Like you, I lurked around this board for a while, reading almost in disbelief. I had smoked for 40+ years, and reached 30 a day. Horrendous to think of all that money gone, as well as damage to health. I had wanted to give up for some time - I had tried everything else available, but never got anywhere. Within hours of gum, patches, hypnotism etc. the cravings got to me. When I got my ecig (I started with a 510 - similar to the one that James above has in his shop) - I spent about an hour or so getting it going - puffing analogues whilst doing so. Once I cracked it and got vaping - I was off and running. After three days - whilst not feeling any 'need' to smoke a real one, I was curious to make a direct comparison, so lit up. Three puffs and I actually didn't enjoy it. I stubbed it out - and that was the point at which I knew I would never smoke again. Had someone tried to tell me that would be the result, I would never have believed them. If you read through some of the threads - there you will see that most of us are getting on a bit and have smoked quite heavily for years. That fact in itself aided me; it was a case if they can do itv ........ So I suggest you buy a good starter model - I would also recommend James's juice (Paradise Vape), as his do give a good vape - which is what you want to experience from the outset. You can then play with/ try out others once you know what it is you can expect (and flavours you enjoy) from vaping. Blows kisses back at Chrissie (I am on the wrong screen for the smilies!) >>>>>>> (forgot I could copy!)

Always, re the 501 versus the 901. It's sort of like comparing real cigs ie, which brand real cig is the best? or maybe even comparing cars - which car is best? There are so many answers & it's down to a matter of taste & what suits you.
All I can say is, give any one of the recommended ones a try, if you don't like it, you can buy an adapter for a couple of quid to enable a different model atomiser to be used on your battery.

Hi there, Always What I always say is.... JUST GET STARTED!!! Seriously, you won't know what you're dealing with until you've actually tried it. So, buy a kit that has sufficient components to keep you going - if you really are "always broke", go for a cheap kit from Eastmall or James (I haven't checked any prices). Do take into account what you would HAVE to afford to spend on fags As for all these silly questions you're asking - I'm coming up to 2 years vaping and I'm still doing it It's great that you're not going to pressure yourself to STOP DEAD right away, you're very sensible. Besta luck - and keep coming back scylla x
