Hi all,
First post, and thanks for a very useful forum.
I'm trying to understand the various cartomiser standards. Firstly, I get my carts and batteries from JAC Vapour.
I use the VGO Auto batteries (650 or 900s -- which I assume are similar/same as the eGo batteries? Probably wrong) and I use their standard pre-filled 35mm carts (so-called "V3 or Version 3 cartomisers").
That's all I've ever used since I started with the e-Cigs at the beginning of the year. However, I started looking around recently primarily for better prices and I noticed that there seems to be (at least) 2 different standards, 510s vs 808s.
Now, I'm not even sure I know what these 2 numbers refer to (threads? diameter for the screw element?? not sure).
Also, JAC Vapour (in terms of Pin & Socket, i..e male to female) seems different from most: i.e. all JAC Vapour's batteries screw into the cart; however, from what I can tell from most other sites the cart screws into the battery.
So my questions:
1) Does what I've written above make sense? 2) What does the 510 vs 808 refer to and what difference does it make? 3) Are JAC Vapours V3 cartomisers inferior to any others and if so in what way(s)? 4) I like auto batteries, as I don't like having to press a button to take a drag - are competitors to JAC Vapour's VGO batteries also automatic (and is that a stupid question?) 5) I don't like the idea of being tied to a supplier who is "bucking the trend", if I switch what is the closest setup to what I've got already and what changes would people here recommend to improve my e-Cig experience (especially in regard to cartomisers)?
I hope that's not too many questions, but they're all related to compatibility and competition really.
Any and all help greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
I.

Hi Izzznet and welcome to the forum, You will find the answers to all your questions from the very friendly people on this Forum. I am fairly new to this forum also so I won't attempt to answer your technical questions, someone will soon be along to help on that front. What I can say is that I also in the past used Jacvapours pre filled Carts. I then started to pop the little white cap and refilled them myself with juice. The obvious benefits to this is it works out so much cheaper and you have a much better choice of flavours. Over to the experts for the answer to your other questions.

808/510 refers to the threading on the battery and it's attachments as you have rightly inferred. The ego batteries are mostly 510 threading. There are more varieties like a 306 or a 901, 801 etc., but 510 is the most popular and widely available followed by the 808d and then the 901. Answers to the best of my knowledge. below. 1) Does what I've written above make sense?Yes 2) What does the 510 vs 808 refer to and what difference does it make? The threading. You can get 901-808/510 adapter and use 510 attachments on your 808 battery. 3) Are JAC Vapours V3 cartomisers inferior to any others and if so in what way(s)?No. 808 cartomizers are just as good as 510's. Just not widely available for replacement and your choices are limited. You can however do what I have stated as answer to pont 2. 4) I like auto batteries, as I don't like having to press a button to take a drag - are competitors to JAC Vapour's VGO batteries also automatic (and is that a stupid question?)Most are manual. Whilst most new users prefer an auto battery, they are often shortlived because there is direct channel for condensation to get to the auto switch which will kill it. The manual switch is a better choice. 5) I don't like the idea of being tied to a supplier who is "bucking the trend", if I switch what is the closest setup to what I've got already and what changes would people here recommend to improve my e-Cig experience (especially in regard to cartomisers)? There are a plethora of alternatives. One very popular starter kit is: vapeescape.co.uk/the-ve-riva-1100-deluxe-kit~151with discount code of allabout for 10% off. I am sure others will be along and point you to more choices.

@ padiho Thanks for the kind welcome. Yes, like you I re-fill my carts, but thanks for the suggestion anyway.
@ maccafan Really informative reply, thank you:
re. 2) Looks like an adapter is the way to go. I'm a little confused which way the adapter goes, i.e. with the JAC Vapour system the Battery is male and the carts are female, but other systems seem to go the other way. So it seems there are 2 variables here (thread gauge and direction); not just one. Am I right in my assumption that the adapter needs to be (from the battery point of view) going from 808 Male to 510 Female (since the 510 carts are male) or is that all included in the nature of a 808 to 510 adapter anyway? -- I hope that's not too confusing.
re. 4) Had no problems so far with premature VGO Auto battery death - but I'll keep this in mind if I do. Thanks.
re. 5) Bookmarked.
Again, thanks for the welcome and info.
I.

The adapter will be labelled 901/808-510. The first numbers indicating the battery and the second the attachment.. The adapter will look like this: www.liberty-flights.co.uk/product.asp?id=35Look for 901 to 510 adapter on that page.. You may also need this for an auto battery 901 to 808-D1 adapter So get both and you can try the first and if it does not work the combination will definitely work.

Hello & welcome Izznet Excellent info from Macca as ever Only one thing I should point out though is that another member bought the VGO auto kit & the 901-510 adapter wouldn't work on it due to it being an auto battery. So I think you will need the 2 connectors that Macca mentions.

Just noticed that LF do this adapter as well.. 901/808 to eGo Adapter - Allows for the use of eGo style atomizers/cartomizers on 901/808-D fitting batteries. Has airflow through the adapter to allow for use on auto batteries. Never seen that before..Would have been best and given you a wider choice of 510-mizers to use..Curently nil stock though..
