Hi, I've read the rules but can't find a comprehensive answer to this - I was just wondering if any swear words (the minor ones like sh*t and Cr*p) are allowed? I dont want to swear but sometimes it pops up unexpectedly - I always try and change it but just wondering how much trouble I'd be in if I forgot?

I tend do do the same Beauty Cat. People have different boundaries regarding swearing so I prefer to err on the side of caution. No point in upseting people

The software on the forum is set up to automatically edit any of the really bad/offensive swear words. Like Karma, I tend to err on the side of caution and might say bugga, instead of b*gger . . . as not everyone may want to read posts peppered with bad language.

Afaik there aren't any hard and fast rules. I just try and fit in with the general tone of the site, which has a broad demographic and a genteel air. I save my harsher expletives for other, rougher fora

Seriously though , I personally think if you can adapt to fit with something similar it , for me also lightens the atmosphere but still gives the point of your anger with the (lack) of a proper swear word , and therefore makes it more acceptable to everyone reading . I may be wrong , Womble is always right

BC, you work in a school, don't you? I used to and the Headteacher's favourite 'swear' word was oh ffff.......... fiddlesticks! I still sometimes use it

Thank you I shall worry less then! I sound like a proper potty mouth posing a question like that - I promise I'm not (in fact in general I'm a bit of a goody two shoes) but just wanted to know!

trust your instinct ratfinkz , I usually don't , unless I feel that way out , and then I still usually don't but in the same vein if I did I still wouldn't care less as a general rule . Know your environment and adapt is my philosophy .
