Now the waiting starts

The MHRA consultation closed on Wednesday and there was a stakeholder meeting today for traders. Apparently they said it might be September before anything is decided.

That's coincidentally when the FDA appeal in the US is scheduled, I'm wondering if our MHRA don't want to rock any boats before the hearing. The result of that case will have a global impact and if the UK bucks the ban trend before then it might undermine the case for banning over there.

Thanks for posting that Kate - lots to read but most interesting. Think the e cig company's arguments are very convincing.

September id better that June or July but all we can hope for is an outcome that will let us continue as we are without having to go under ground or break the law

It's well worth reading folks & in particular, I found the following statement to be a bit of an eye-opener to say the least

"It was then revealed that there was in fact no requirement for an NRT to have any nicotine nor indeed any effect. MHRA stated clearly, openly, and repeatedly that it is not necessary for an NRT to supply any nicotine whatsoever, and that an NRT, even nicotine patches, could be - and indeed currently are - licensed by MHRA even if they do not supply any nicotine to the user, since this is neither measured nor is there any minimum or maximum standard for such devices nor is there any requirement for them to function in this way."
