PS: I'm now hooked on Scott Bonner's (Igetcha) You Tube reviews - better than Corrie!! A lot of people (mainly men, you'll notice) put reviews on YouTube, but Scott has carved out a niche for himself with his clear and characterful reviews scylla

Two bright shiny new manual batteries arrived this morning (for my 901). Imagine my horror when they wouldn't fit the charger because the buttons got in the way. I contacted George at OKSmokey to ask if he stocked the 'proper' chargers for this type of battery and within a few moments he 'phoned me to tell me to pull off the switches (amazing customer service)! It worked although it's a bit fiddly putting them back again. Another new thing I learned today. Fox

OMG, they've obviously put the switches too close to the end of the battery I've never seen a manual 901 battery so I cannot visualise what you're having to do, it does sound a pain Still, I'm glad George was so responsive to your cry for help - I remember in the very early days he phoned me and I was impressed by that. scylla

Yup Scylla, the little rubber button is just a few millimetres from the top of the battery. You can't push the button down to insert it into the charger as that would mean the battery would discharge quicker than it would charge. The button pulls off easily but is fiddly to replace - I dropped one on the floor yesterday and thought that would be the end of it but fortunately and with the aid of a torch, I managed to find it. Next time I may not be so lucky so I'm very careful. I don't think I shall be buying manual batteries again though.
I would dearly love a truly universal charger - I have three different model PVs and, therefore, three different chargers!

I wonder if a USB charger would be OK, the battery doesn't have to insert to far - here's a pic stolen from TW: And here's OK Smokey's version, which doesn't have a cable - might be best used with a hub? It's a bit cheaper: scylla

Fox, I'm sure that I saw that Amy (health Cabin) was selling universal chargers. Off to have a look

Found it, it's a universal USB charger. www.healthcabin.net/universal-usb-charger-product-7384.htmlDue to the shipping costs, it would make it expensive to buy on it's own but next time you need a few supplies maybe? Health Cabin's prices are fantastically cheap & Amy's customer service is second to none

Thereby hangs the problem really - all the battery threads I have are different sizes and one person's notion of 'universal' is not necessary another's. If anyone has tried a 901 and an Evo (whatever the generic of that is I don't know) and find they both work in their 'universal,' I shall forever be in their debt.

PS: That second one looks as though it might be OK - does anyone know what 'number' the Evo is? I could always ask about it then.
Thanks so much for looking around for me.

Fox, I'm fairly certain the Evo is an M401. I'll try & confirm that for you.

Ok from searching info on ECF, most people are saying it is an M401, some are saying it's an M40x.
However, a USA supplier of the the Evo states "All the accessories for either the M4 or the EVO work together." So I guess that means that all M4 series parts are compatible with the Evo.
I'm sure though that if you emailed Toby at Ivapour-elixir that he would be able to confirm that you can use the that USB charger with your EVO.

However, the universal charger might require the manual 901 to be screwed in deeply enough to necessitate the removal of the button, I haven't found a pic showing the aperture. Did we say that already? scylla

Thanks Scylla - TW sell the Titan that has only manual buttons so the charger they supply with that one must fit. It does seem daft to have to remove the buttons - I keep losing mine because I don't seat them well enough when replacing them. So far I've been lucky enough to find them again but eventually I won't!

Fox, TW's Titan is a 510, so the charger that comes with that won't charge your manual 901's .
