Hi Engineer. Going to have to be a quick reply for now but here goes Firstly, where did you buy your e-cig from? It's most likely a DSE901 (re saying mini on it) but if we know the supplier, we can tell you for certain. To begin with they can taste awful. The atomisers come with a factory primer & once that has burnt off, it will taste better. When you get the juice, you need to drip a couple of drops of it into the mouthpiece end of the atomiser & several more drops into the white fabric of the mouthpiece. There is a chart floating around in the eBay group showing which nic level juice is recommended, depending on what cigs & how many you used to smoke. I'll try & find it & C&P it here later today, unless someone else finds it for you in the meantime

George at OK Smokey's Virginia is inoffensive, I found, but like almost all juices you will notice a sweetness to it - you should get used to that in no time so try to keep an open mind (and I'm not accusing you of having a closed one!!!), many people have been shocked to find themselves loving banana and all sorts. George does all the strengths from 36mg down to Nil, what did you choose? The carts you get with a starter kit are often graded - like 1 High, 2 Medium, 1 Low, 1 Nil nicotine; but sometimes they're all High. You need Keef or Chrissie to come along with the equivalent strengths - I vape any old rubbish at any old strength, it's so fantastic not to be mouldering in a cloud of smoke from 60 Golden Virginia per day I don't notice much difference when I go from High to Low ??? Congratulations on getting started and good luck Engineer scylla Oh! I've just missed the previous answers to Engineer - obviously I didn't see another page. Sowwy

Thanks to all of you for your help and encoragement - I'll not give up on this thing yet :-) The supplier was on ebay by the name of "electroniccigarettesforsale" - don't know who they are or how to get in contact with them. BTW Chrissie, there's no 'white fabric' in the mouthpiece - so how do I keep drops of juice in it - surely they'll just fall out the hole in the bottom!! Hi Scylla - got the Low (11mg) type - I really am very concerned not to increase my nicotine input. . . I'm hooked enough as it is :-(( Hi TinyTim - looks good - I'd be interested in any comments on it when you've tried it. I am serious enough about this to buy another one - no confidence in what I have and another person's experience is worth a thousand pictures!!
Many thanks to all - this forum is a GodSend - thanks Chrissie

I did that - looking for the white stuff in the black mouthpiece, and came to the same conclusion as you..........there wasn't any! Then I realised.........doh!!! The white stuff is in the other end of the atomiser (which is the bit the mouthpiece goes in to)!!!!!

Engineer & primo, the starter kits come with an empty blank mouthpiece attached to the atomiser. You need to replace it with one the ones you get with your kit. They come in a little box of 5 & are confusingly labelled "atomised cartridges". No Primo, the stuffing has to be in the cartridge/mouthpiece. If it has come out & is inside the metal atomiser, that has most likely happened due to you "smoking" it dry. This photo shows the different parts of the e-cig & will hopefully help you understand where the e-liquid goes. Should just add a couple of things. That photo shows a DSE 901 mini with a brown cartridge/mouthpiece but they mainly sell black ones now. Don't forget folks, you need a mouthpiece/cartridge with stuffing in it & that stuffing needs to be kept moist with e-liquid - otherwise your e-cig will taste horrible & you will hardly get any vapour from it

BTW Chrissie, there's no 'white fabric' in the mouthpiece - so how do I keep drops of juice in it - surely they'll just fall out the hole in the bottom!! To refill a cartridge you drip juice into the stuffing and jiggle it around a bit - say with pointy tweezers or an adapted paperclip. Try 2-3 drops at first and adapt according to experience. It's possible to get juice in one's gob, yukky but survivable, if one puts in too much. If you are stuck without stuffing, remove mouthpiece from atomiser and drip directly into the open end of the atty onto the wire woolly "bridge" inside. (Bridge is a confusing word but that's what that wire woolly stuff is called.) Two drops will do. Careful not to flood, it can kill atty or it can seep out of other end into battery. But don't be scared to try it, two drops should be quite fine, I often do three scylla

Oh bl.hll - no WONDER it tasted awful and I was reluctant to keep trying. The one I got originally had NO stuffing in it - just looked at the replacement mouthpieces and they DO have stuffing. Being a little old in the tooth (64 today) is my excuse!!! Doh!! I can't believe I got this so wrong with all the reading I've done about it!!!! Doh and double doh!!!

Glad the penny's dropped, Primo If it's any comfort, it's terrific experience for you, you'll be able to see where other misguided newbies are coming from and set them straight scylla

Primo, loads of people have done exactly the same as you did when they first got their e-cig Another common thing is that newbies end up doing without realising, is covering the small hole in the side of the atomiser with there fingers. This stops the airflow & the result is no vapour. Lol, I hold my hand up to confess I did that one

Many thanks to all - Primo, Chrissie and Scylla especially - got it at last!! I was looking in the mouthpiece which was on the E-Cig when I got it and, of course, there was no lint!!. When I looked in the one I was actually using - behold. . . lint!! (Feeling a little embarrassed . . :=o <Thanks to Primo for making me feel quite so bad> Finally it has all come together - I note also that the e-cig has to be pointed downwards by 30o or so for best effect. I shall now puff (excuse me . . . vape) away happily now. BTW - even though I haven't been using the e-cig much til now I find I am automatically cutting down anyway. . . . happy days!! <maybe I'll get the hang of these smileys next!!>

Engineer, please don't ever feel embarrassed. The e-cig is such a relatively new concept so we can all remember how confusing it can be to begin with One of the best things about the e-cig is that you can use it in many ways. To give up smoking completely, to help you cut down or even just to use it in places you aren't allowed to smoke. If you do feel the need to continue smoking, don't count the real cigs you may still smoke, count the ones you don't smoke As Scylla says, instead of typing in the quick reply box, left click on the reply icon bottom right of the last post on a thread & you will then get loads of smileys & other options to add to your posts

Very pleased to see some of our new members beginning to get the hang of it, as everyone's said - we were ALL newbies not so long ago so please don't ever feel inhibited about asking questions.
Keeping your sense of humour when it dawns on you that you did an 'oops' and then being generous enough to share the giggle with others is a sign of strength of character IMHO, and definitely one of the lovely things about this place.
