GD-PT death and other travails...

Garry Dibley passthru died at 06.50 this morning. I thought it was 901 atties, went to change them and found I only had 3 left and can't tell if those are new or not ???

So I'm on TW's yoyo sale for some more 901s (have to buy WHITE ) ...

E-cig let-downs are piling up on me. 2 Tornegoriva-style starter kits (each different) have been either dangerously faulty or merely non-performing.

Thank goodness for Lilac and DX making me wealthy in SD battery terms

(I know your GD-PT also had a prob, Chrissie, but many different search terms have not found your post for me.)

(((Scylla))) I've not posted about my GDPT yet as I was going to wait & see how it was dealt with.

The first 901 GDPT I bought yonks ago was brilliant. Untill I put a large heavy adapter on it & a large heavy cat (Josh) sat on it

So I bought a new one in October. As I had some 510 atties & cartos kicking about & the new PT was a 510 I thought I'd use them up first (got the kit with the adapters). To begin with I thought the misfires where due to the atties/cartos - never been a 510 fan. However, I then also started getting slight tingling (shocks) on my lips when using a carto. I also found I had to wiggle the flex about a bit to get it to fire.

Then tried with 901 adapter - again sometimes worked when i pressed button, sometimes it didn't. Finally it would only fire if I held the flex at an angle.

I contacted Abe @ LF & he has given me Garry's addie to arrange sending it back to him for repair. Haven't contacted him yet as I've had a lot on my mind this week - plus of course with the post the way it is, I think it would be best if I wait till after Christmas before sending it back. In the meantime, I decided to buy another one from LF (without the adapters of course) as I hate being without it. LF dispatched my order yesterday.

But honestly Scylla & Lisa - tis the truth! I'd left my old PT slung over the back of the sofa (unplugged) & came back to find Josh sitting on it. Lol, he pushes cushions around to get nice & comfy & I bet that's how the PT ended up underneath him. He is no light weight @ just under 8kg

I must admit that my passthrough doesnt fire every time and its not even 2 months old.Thought they were supposed to last donkeys years???Ive only ever heard good things about this PT,i also get my lips heated up using cartos and melted carts when using an atty.I love cartos on it but every 4-5 draws i have to let it cool as the carto and drip tip gets MEGA hot.Ive mainly started to stick to 3.7v now as these problems never occur.

I've been on a voyage of discovery since I posted my "complaint". It's not the GD-PT that's broke, it's all my remaining 901 atties, combined with a fallen-apart USB hub which I've now mended. It was dodgy from the start, this one.

Ian, in my experience cartos can get over-hot so I always fit a drip-tip to them now. The metal of the carto only has a bit of duct-tape wrapped around it I've never melted a cart, though - but that's prolly because I use 901 atties with an adapter for my GD-PT.

Back to my atties, I've got a little pack of Amy's and I notice I've written DOA on a couple and put them back in, stoopid me, so I thought I had more left than I do; and the Eastmall ones too, I've put dead ones back in and a couple of them were DOA too. So I'm stumped until my needle comes to fill the disappointing mega cartos from TW.

I used an inkjet syringe to fill my mega carto..
The other ones still taste of onions tho...
Maybe I should boil them?

I know that the carto gets hot but after say 4-5 draws the drip tip also gives me a sudden burn to the lips which gives me a shock and bloody hurts.I draw gently for about 4-5 seconds so i dont know why this happens or how to resolve it??Any suggestions would be a real help to me.The drip tip still gets hot at 3.7v but doesnt actually burn my lips.This problem is at higher voltage for me and mainly with cartos on passthrough.So Scylla,do you think that wrapping some sort of heat resistant tape might help???Lol,is there even such a thing as that???Im clutching at straws ere,ive stopped using passthrough altogeather now and am VERY gutted coz i love the vape it gives with a carto,just not the toasted lips.

My inkjet needles are miles too big, I've ordered a small one, 18g, hope it's small enough

I frequently get the mysterious onions coming thru, yesterday I got it with an ordinary cart and blue foam and some generic juice that I've been using for at least a week and which has never caused it before ??? The dreaded onions pop up from nowhere

Are you using a metal drip-tip? I have never tried one because the mere thought of it sets me teef on edge (I do hold carts/tips in me teef quite often) but I've never had probs with the "DELRIN" plastic ones.

I'm pretty sure that the "coating" on the cartos is just duct tape, so you could try giving it some extra layers, maybe try it on a carto that's on its way out so that you don't ruin a new one. Cos the glue may be a special type on the original wrapping ???

I know you're a great one for experimenting so I'm looking forward to how you get on

Thanks Scylla,im gonna give it a go to see if it makes any difference.Im also gonna change how long i draw on the passthrough coz i think i take big drags to get a massive throat hit.I also chain vape it and dont give it any chance to cool and the cartos get so very hot.I mainly use derlin drip tips but am forced to use metal on passthrough now coz ive melted a few derlin ones on it.Thats how hot the cartos are getting,i heard that derlin was very hard to melt,lol,i have managed it.
