Here is a video that was done by Moobyghost last year, explaining the straw mod. It's really not a big deal, just cut the stem to the right size, angle one end and insert it into a corner of the cartridge. You may want to trim the fluff a bit, to keep it loose.

I've always had a tendency to stuff too much fluff in, it's the same with the blue foam I think, but am gradually whittling it down

That's been my problem too, Scylla, too much fluff. I have been cutting it down and packing it lighter into the cart and I have noticed a difference in vapor and throat hit.

Happy to report I coped with this techmification, without tears or a tantrum Jerry!

Spent quite a jolly half hour or so butchering cotton buds and inserting into various carts today and by golly it works!!!
