I think it's done to prevent problems with the wick straight onto the mesh. The instructions say you should use it if you are a beginner to mesh vaping.

According to the information sheets that Callum has sent with it ( nice touch ) using the silica sleeve isn't necessary Brian, I'm thinking it's to help ease a new user of Genesis atomiser's in . . . I could be wrong of course.

Did you gents who have received yours, think that the spare ready wires, look as if they're res and non res spliced together? Yes they seem to be, but be careful, one of my non res looking splices has already fallen off... and they're still in the bag! I can't quite understand why they should need to do that, I thought the whole point of splicing stuff like that, was to prevent the res wire burning things other than the juice, ie the plastic bits. There are no plastic bits in this.

Another thig then, while ive got your attention..... Does this mean you can wrap a SS mesh wick with silica in any genisis atty? I hope not, cos only got rid of me VH genny a couple of days ago due to not being able to make it work properly.

That's happened to me with the GG ready wires as well Womble, the Supplier's of this appear to be erring very much on the side of caution, with the way it's set up.
I guess that's no bad thing.

And I am a bit concerned with the evidence of stressing on the poly tube where it fits. I can see tiny stress fractures developing. Best to keep an eye on that. I am also, cos I can see them on mine too, I would have preferred a glass tank, but for this price, not expected I suppose. Hopefully spare tubes will be available if needed.

This is the contents of the bag of spares, I cannot see why you need low-high resistance wire for this type of setup.

From the POV of this being my first genisis atty..... and only having it one afternoon... I can't see why not, they all look the same to me. Seems a good idea, stops any shorting problems with the coil on the wick and it seems to stay wet very well, acts as a sort of mini reservoir as well I suppose.

So working on that principal.
The silica would only need to wrap around the top section, where the wire is coiled above the chamber?

It seems so, if they were so worried about shorts, I would maybe have expected them to drop the silica tube down over the metal edge where the wick enters the reservoir, but maybe that's not so much of a problem, or maybe that's more difficult to do.

Why on earth has`nt someone mentioned this before when making wicks for genny atties? It just seems so obvious now. Wish I had`nt got rid of the VH genny now :-[

Yes you need to wrap the silica only where the coil would touch the mesh..This is bringing what was essentially a enthusiast wick and wire arrangement to the masses.. Not everyone fully understands or manages to properly make a SS Mesh wick..It's a bit hit and miss even to seasoned genesis users. I think it's a great idea by the manufacturer to prevent shorts.
The no-res is presumably to minimize the burnt taste from glowing coil wire in the air. However I am not sure the no-res ends will prevent glowing coils where the wire leaves the wick into the terminals. I have tried this before by soldering no res wires before but the heat is transmitted to the no-res and that glows too, admittedly not as hot as the resistance coil but it does which means you will still get a burnt taste if you do not eliminate the glow.

Yes, it means you could put a silica wick tube over any genesis SS wick (under the coil).
