Another little tip I stumbled upon when coiling my did, I always used liquorish papers for rolling my cigs when I smoked and I found that if you wrap a piece around the mesh at the point where it goes through the hole into the main tank and just leave it there you are guaranteed zero shorts from contact with the tank as the paper provides the insulation, so even if your oxidising isn't too clever you can still get great results. Coupled with the silicon sleeves mentions above you could make these genesis atties pretty much Jason fool proof The silica wicking tube does a bit more than just insulate..It enhances the wicking and gives out more vapour and also prevents the SS mesh getting brittle and tearing over time. Try it mate, it works very well with no loss of flavour, more vapour with an even burn along all the coils.

I may well give it a go on my next re-coil mate, do you need to roll the mesh a bit looser to aid wicking being that the silicon will provide the strength?

The silica wick provides no strength at all..It's just slid over on the outside of the mesh..
You still need an air hole in the middle of the mesh wick to replace air in the tank..I normally cut the bottom end off at an angle so that the wick does not bottom out completely..The silica wicking tube just goes on the area which emerges from the hole..

Another day with the maximus. I'm liking it more now, the vape is constant, I do find I have to set the voltage just right, either to how I'm feeling, or the wick is....... I'm not sure, atm at 4v it's good, at 4.2 it's a burnt taste.
My real only niggle atm, is the drip tips not fitting well into the end, I haven't got one that doesn't fit loosely, the ones that come with the vivi novas fit best for me, which is not perfect as I don't like the seam on them. Who's got a delrin DT which fits well and what is it?
And I presume you are not supposed to take the poly tube out of the main body? Has anyone asked if spare tubes will be available?

Macca, from what I've seen it your picture above, you haven't wound the coil very tightly around the silica tube, is that right?

Your drip tip needs a fatter o ring. Mine wobbled and just fell out when tipped. Luckily I found another drip tip that had an o ring that made a better fit . just simple prize them off and replace.

Andy Thanks Andy, I'll take the one off the chrome drip tip that came with it, maybe I'll look into getting some more o rings from somewhere.

Have you tried a bit of PTFE (plumber's) tape wrapped around it? I suppose that's a possibility, although how well it would stay on that tiny bit at the end, I'm not sure, I think it would slide off the first time you pulled the DT out.

Great spot, thank you for the heads up Sej. Haven't had a problem with the drip tips must admit Womble . . . I'm using the transparent cheapie ones. Loving this.

I guess I'm lucky then. The Ming drip tip I got with my Maximus fits perfectly.
