For reasons I won't bore you with, I've not used my desktop for a month, have been using my laptop.

Tonight I thought I'd bring it back to life. Was expecting a few updates but it's now been 4 hours, with Norton, Logitech, Windows, Java... most requiring a restart.

Please tell me that national security is not reliant on this... incoming missile expected in 2 mins, security software update will take 35 mins!

I know this post is tongue in cheek, but it's really pi**ed me off tonight. Rant over

Since I got my iPad, my laptop which was once the love of my life is just a brick that I dust occasionally. It's 5 years old and it gets switched on a few times a year now, it takes so long to start up and I dread to think how many updates it would want

in a similar vein ... I brought my SD MK I out of dust this evening , the only update it needed was a battery charge , however it got updated with the FREE pulse carto I got the other week .. odd looking but vapes well

I think I'm going to have to go down that path. My two sons keep showing me what they can do on their iPads but, being old, I keep thinking I've got no control over security. Perhaps I didn't have any anyway ???

No worries about security on an iPad any more/less than anything else, it's basically just an iPhone with a bigger screen

You can get security for ipad/iphone etc if your really paranoid about it .. but there really isn't much need

I always think an iPad is an iPhone for the visually Impaired.

I would hang on until windows 8 and the Microsoft surface is released and see what that is like. The plus side of it will be it can run flash.

tsch at you lot , my desktop is my main terminal , my android tablet my 3rd and my Iphone my 2nd and my poor old win vis.. oops upgraded to win 7 laptop my last port of call ... only coz its slower than the missus cooking my evening meal whilst its loading
