BTW, what's the orange stuff you get in the pack? As far as I can tell: Bear in mind also that 500mesh is best suited to pg liquid and will not be so good with vg . Apparently it wicks better for both liquids. I know people said to use 325 but in actual tests carried out mesh with smaller size is better for capillary action so long as the mesh does not become smaller than a single molecule. Many people on 100% VG are now using 400 as 325 gives them dry hits. Never tried it myself but that's what I have read.

Cheers Macca, that's a pretty good spares kit I'd say.

I've found that 325 is overkill for VG and 400 is ideal. Also I had wicking problems with VG in 500 mesh, I prefer to use 500 myself but then my liquids are mostly 70% pg. I mostly found that the 500 with VG suffered at higher voltages because it never wicked fast enough but at 1.7ohms at 3-3.5v it was fine.

Well if you have used it you would know..I prefer PG heavy juices and this stuff wicks very well..
What many people are doing these days is getting very thick wire like 28 awg or 27 awg and making 1 ohm coils and putting it on 500 mesh and this is how it vapes in a standard mech tube mod:

The problem with 1ohm coils is they are great for tobacco heavy flavours or menthol but they tend to strip the flavour from desert type juices. It's improved with the thicker wire because it tends to heat up slower. The thicker wire also endures a lot longer before popping.

Good stuff, I must get me some 28 AWG and give it a shot.. I mainly vape tobacco flavours including steeped tobacco leaf..
My only fruit flavour is straight green apple which I vape after a meal..

So if I vape a VG heavy organic juice which mesh and wire would be best? Same question really with PG heavy fruit flavour? Sorry guys for all the questions you experts are going to be getting from us noob wick makers. I sold my only rebuildable due to the fact I couldnt master it, this time im determined to succeed.

It all depends on your personal tastes to be honest Brian..You literally have to suck it and see and experiences differ..
BJ43 who is a pioneer in SS wicks reckons #500 mesh is the best around at the moment. for all e-juice regardless of composition. He's done tests to satisfy himself. This is what he had to say:
#400 mesh is the tried and tested method. I use #500 and found it wicks a lot better and so are many others, including users of full VG juices in line with BJ43's quote above.

So going by that theory, I`ll order the #500. Cheers buddy.
Now I dont usually like a very low resistance coil, generally around 2.4 ohm is what i make my vivi nova coils at, or buy ready made. So what wire would be best if i want around 4 wraps?
EDIT. Im talking about for a mesh wick there, not a silica one for the nova
