Mine is turning into a knightmare.
Spent ages making a wick, made coil with drill bit, hot spot (x 5), then shorts, so re did wick, shorts seemed to cause my provari to put out waaaay more than the 3v I was burning in coils with and broke 3 before I worked it out, by burning out 2 vivi novas.
After leaving the provari for a couple of hours, it seemed to get back to normal voltages.
Re oxidized wick a few times, burnt off 6 loads of juice on it. Built new coil, E1 short, provari on next try threw out again a massive voltage, this time on the FG wick I'd thrown in out of desperation.
So now I'm vaping the FG wick (Meh, it's ok) on my LT and wondering where it all went wrong.

Oh dear womble, doesn't sound good, but it doesnt sound like the provari is behaving either, surely it should have short protection, and just not work when there is one Everything is better tomorrow, try again.

Provape have told me to give it a bath or something, so I'll look at that tomorrow as well. It's always better in the morning LOL

Completely uneducated guess but if it started working again after a couple of hours my first guess would be that something did some serious overheating then went back to normal after cooling down. Have been having loads of trouble getting my mesh and coil set up too but seem to have done away with the hotspots after finding out about the Rizla technique: No more hotspots! Next goal - more wraps!

Isn't it better to try the freshly made coil on a half dead battery on an ego or something similar, before sticking it on a Provari...(not as though I have a Provari) but I got all mine going on my used Egos

It's only to get a lower voltage, you can set the provari to 3v, so it's the same.
In theory it should be immune to any shorting problems, but it just seemed to whack out a massive voltage, (must be near 6v I reckon) on any setting after a short.
Thanks Nick for the link, I'm definitely trying that.
Can anyone point me to Macca's video about checking the wicking. I've searched for ages but can't find it. Thanks.
