A home is badly needed for the loveliest cat I've ever known.
She needs to go to a home, not a shelter, however good it is. She needs love n cuddles.
I know she could be advertised practically anywhere and she would be snatched up 'cause she's just so gorgeous - but I want her to go to someone really special that I know I can trust .............. so naturally I thought of you guys first.................. I know it's a bit of a long shot though!
This is not my cat, but belongs to someone who is, so sadly, no longer able to keep her.
She's half maine coon, half persian. 8 years old. All jabs etc fully up to date. She has a thyroid deficiency and is on thyroxine for life (cost approx £2 per week)
She is nervous of children and dogs so would only be happy in a mature household. She isn't fussed about going outdoors (but will if you want her to)
She's wonderfully affectionate & devoted & a real companion. Not aloof; she's very gentle with lots of personality.
You can tell I'm a number 1 fan and if things were not so uncertain for me, I'd have her in the blink of an eye; however it wouldn't be fair so I can't.
I'm prepared to drive a distance to get her to a loving home if her owner is unable to.
This is a very special cat needing a special loving new home.
As I say posting this is a long shot.
It's just that you're the kind of peeps she should go to.
Sorry not here very often these days; circumstances y'know........... blah blah ............boring.
When things improve will need to get back to vaping (lapsed) & get spurred on by you guys - lol ...........not just yet though
Luv ya lots
Lolli x
Will pop back to see if any replies

I've forgotten where you are, Lolli. I was thinking of SO, who's just got permission for 2 cats. Would she be amenable to having a tatty companion? Because SO wants 2 so they can be company for each other when he's at work. He does 12 hour shifts, although because he's kinda management he does spend some of those hours at home with the phones switched thru, unofficially He might like to have a cat with thyroid, like me Of course, he might not, but at least I'll be able to tell him about her if she's collectable. scylla

Aww, had an email reply from Lolli - Puss only likes humans, and she's rather far away. I don't think SO would be comfortable leaving her on her own potentially for long periods What's her name, Lolli?scylla

Oh Lolli, she is beautiful If she doesn't like other cats, it's going to limit who can help An under active thyroid condition (Hypothyroidism) is very rare in cats.

Yes, my Bianca was hyper. SO says he must have 2 cats because he couldn't bear to leave one alone, and it could be for long periods sometimes, day after day. I've emailed a friend who, if she were interested, could give Puss a lovely home but I think she still has her "old" one I've texted her also now cos the landline phone when to recorded msg. I keep looking at her and yearning, SO said I should have her but it really is impossible at the moment scylla

Thanks guys Think you're right & her thyroid is overactive. Can check with owner if we find someone. Distance isn't a problem as "Hatty" is worth the trouble of a journey - though Scotland might be a bit toooo far - lol She would be best as an "only" cat though & not being left for very long periods of say 8 hours plus. It's a big ask but seemed worth a try. Hugs to all

Lolli, I may be wrong but fairly certain that if she is on thyroxine then that does mean her thyroid is under rather than over active. If so Hypothyroidism is an extremely rare condition in cats (far more common in dogs). However, on the other hand Hyperthyroidism (over active) is also fairly rare in cats under 11 years of age. I belong to a couple of eBay cat groups - one of them that used to be very active before the new platform but now sadly almost dead, the other, a small private group of folks who have all met up. I'm more than happy to ask if any of them could help, but like me they all have at least one cat or two or three or ten So want to help find a home for Hattie

Hattie was probably hyper and had her thyroid zapped (one way or another), and is now hypo, like me. Poor little dear, so young scylla x

A new owner would have to know what's wrong, wouldn't they? Otherwise they'd have to take her straight to a vet for tests ???
It's very sad we can't find a home for darling Hattie - she is so gorgeous.

Fairly certain it will be over active thyroid (though unusually a tad young for it to kick in).
I'm not trying to put folks off but, anyone considering taking her on will need to take her to the vets every few months to recheck her thyroid levels. Over time, her levels could creep up & she will then need more tablets per day. However, there is also an op to remove the effected gland or the whole thyroid gland. If this is carried out, there is no need for any meds afterwards.

Confirmed with owner - it's overactive & she's on one pill of felimazole a day. Goes to vet every December for check up - otherwise purrrrfect
