I bought a passthrough, it arrived yesterday and I was delighted with it, used it again today, just come back to the laptop and it doesn't work any more! What have I done?

You probably didn't do anything. Unscrew the atomizer and screw it back on again. If it still doesn't work, make sure the atomizer is working. If it still doesn't work, contact the supplier who you bought it from, you may be able to return it for a replacement or refund.

Try it on a different usb port, Jambutty, or a different machine, if you have one.....if it fires up then, i wouldn't use it, it might be faulty and has blown your other port....send it back in that case...

What sort of passthru is it Jammy? If it's a 901, they used to be terribly unreliable in the days when I bought a couple about 18 months ago. I also bought the much-hyped PureSmoker PT - that zapped my laptop when the button stuck, almost on the first puff scylla

is it not best to use a usb plug straight from the mains, and maybe a rcd on the plug. usb ports are not really meant for output. i also noticed yesterday in poundland they had in car usb chargers, which i guess you could also use for your passthrus. raggy.................

Would also like to know what sort of passthru it was Jammy & where you bought it from.
As per Perpy's post, I 100% recommend that set up.
Raggy is right, USB ports aren't really meant for the kind of power some PT's try to draw. At best they could damage the USB port, at worst they could damage your motherboard.

Hi, it's that one from Liberty, I thought if it was good enough for Clutter it was good enough for me However, it's working again so I don't know what happened. I tried it in both ports, with three different atomisers that I checked with the Tornado to make sure they were ok, nothing at all. This morning I thought I'd have another fiddle and it was working, but the atomiser got so hot it melted the end of the cart; now it seems to have settled down. I'm using it straight from the port, though; should I be using an adapter?

Tbh Jammy, although the PT you and Clutter have bought is sold for use with the usb port on a computer, personally I wouldn't - it's a lot cheaper to buy an adaptor than a new pc. The fact your atty go so hot and melted the cart would worry me alone, as that shouldn't happen. As Raggy says, you can also use in car chargers with your PT, although you have to watch the amps, for them to work effectively. I believe a 2A is available on Ebay, although this is the one several of us have. www.eastmall.net//Products/ShowProduct.aspx?pid=100004170&name=Drip-Tip & Adapters

Thank you both for the links, I'll get an adapter for the lappy. Sorry to keep harassing with questions, I have a couple of mains chargers, output is 5v.1000mA on one 5v.500mA on the other. Would either of those be safe to use, if not, can anyone tell me what 'size' I need?

Jammy, you need at least 2000mA to get the best out of it. The eBay one (same as I've been using for about 18 months) is 5v 3000ma. You don't use it at all with the lappy - just plug the hub straight into the mains.

I hadn't looked at it properly when I posted, just had a quick glance and I thought it was a usb hub for the computer! After reading Chrissie's post about the 2000mA I thought it would be safe to use the 1000mA one, which does seem to work, so that will tide me over until I get one of those recommended. Thank you all for your patience.

Not at all, Jammy! And you can use the hub in your PC for other things, just not for the PT It's multi-functional scylla
