I must apologise, I didn't think a plate could be fitted to the bt master socket without the wiring being removed. Even the front plate. Sorry dude, I guess you learn something every day. :-[ Dont worry womble, not being clued up on these things my explanations were worse than normal, and they're normally quite bad OK, I've now worked out what the Bt BB accelerator does. With a little googling. It removes the bell wire from the circuit. And that is all. Most modern telephones don't need the bell wire anyway. What a total rip off. Most peoples phones don't need the bell wire, they will just have inherited it from the previous people, or will just have carried it on from before. I can tell you how to remove your bell wire from your telecoms wiring. pm me, or contact me here.

Ahh cool, so is it the bell wire that picks up the interference then? and I guess you would have to remove it from the main line inwards, aswell as the extension, or am I barking up the wrong tree? Anyway... thanks for the offer, but my router is nicely screwed to the wall near the master socket, and it likes it's home, its all tidy there, so I don't really need it, I will keep that offer in mind if I ever do though womble, if that is ok?

Well apparently, it's the bell wire that is the problem. That's what the bt website says.
You have to disconnect from within the master socket, basically the cct comes in from the exchange, on a pair of wires, no's 5 and 2 on the plate, that is your telephone line, 2 wires. Should be blues, but it depends on your pole wires. An orange wire, either 3 or 4 on the socket is your bell wire. You need to disconnect these wires from your master socket and all should be ok. This should be internal cabling NOT external cabling.
And this depends on how many lines you have incoming. Like I said, it's not always that easy.

I think you may also need the Essentials package for this @ £6.50? £3.25 (another Edit: just noticed that is only a 9 month offer now, it was a full year when I signed up ) The real problem with this is that it's only available in BT infinity enabled areas, whilst there is a lot of areas connected now, many are yet to be upgraded, so not available for all. But then that is the same with Virgin.... our area has both Edited to add: Also being as it's a reasonably new service, I reckon if you wait a few months, being talktalk, the prices will tumble

ok first apology over the BT master socket,i just bought mine replaced them ever since i had a year of signal drops, and final an nice open reach engineer looked at master socket and said ancient and replaced it with the NTE 5, with instructions it does say bel wire optional, now for me to do this and build comps the best part is i am totally Colour blind! lol regarding the anti virus etc, that was not meant as,an advice to do ,thats my choice main reason most hackers no the back door to near on every anti virus on the market, basic common sense on comp use and you should be fine, also will add most newer routers have a firewall built in,if you want to nose at your router inside change wep key to a new one try here and look for your router listed ,has user and pw to gain access to most of them ,www.portforward.com...... ass for question on lappy being built from scratch basically wouldnt do it,there to much hassle even to get them apart ,besides most laptops life span are around 5yrs,heat kills them ,unless your willing to take it apart and clean the dust out....... regarding pc and cooling i have and Antec 900 wanted the 1200 but were out of stock at the time, good thing cooling is great hums away bad part as you say is dust, but newer cases coming out are now adding dust filters in front of the fans that re removable to clean at one point i was considering the Zalman Z11 but not so good reviews on them ...as for Dell Alienware Pc's,you are better off going through websites and comparing the price of the parts in side it and see the saving alone from doing it your self, only point will make is try getting all parts for a home build in one place or courier costs add up to give you a point on low cost old Pc ancient neeeds clock work key to work Motherboard.Cpu memory bundle £149 www.ebuyer.com/394074-amd-prebuilt-bundle-with-gigabyte-ga-78lmt-s2p-socket-am3-motherboard-amd-fx-4100-processor-gbt-amd-4100-4gbdownside you may need a new HD as this only has sata ,but you can use old HD with a external housing for ide from ebay for a few quid ! so for under £200 new comp inc new HD ! lol
