Atties. How do they work?

I'm about a month into vaping now with a Tornadoand a Riva 510 and everything is great. I know I like the minty flavours and can happily add flavourings and menthol crystals to a stronger juice to get a nice vape at about 5mg. All is well.

But I still haven't figured out how to use and enjoy vaping with an atty. When I first bought the Tornado kit it came with tabacco carts and I knew I wouldn't like them so I looke about and the only thing I could see that said Tornado was the cartomisers so I bought them. They work brilliantly and I lubs them. But the lowest they come in is 11mg and I really would like half that strength.

I have tried using the atties from the kit, the LR one from the Riva kit and even a 901 with adapter to see what that was like but I just cant seem to work them. I either get a yukky taste of mental or something or there is hardly any vapour or it doesn't feel as good as the cartos. I have tried blowing them out, DD, 3 drops, four drops, half a bottle. But just cant get that sweet spot.

Has anyone got any ideas?

Just for starters Wotsit, you can buy empty Cartomisers & or refill the ones you have with any e-liquid of your choice.

Back to your question about atomisers. Are you using them with a stuffed cartridge filled with e-liquid? All atomisers come with a completely blank mouthpiece (cartridge without either any stuffing or juice). Also, some atties need the primer blowing out & a break in period to get them working well

Thanks Chrissie. I am refilling like a demon. I have 25 ish (I keep losing them) and rotate them so Im not sure exactly how many refills they are getting.

I have tried with filled carts and also dripping but it doesnt seem to work. I have also used some 510 cartos with the soft caps and they arent doing it for me either.

How long of a break in period do they need? Imnot sure when Im dripping if Im putting too much in or what.

It sounds to me like you might be flooding them - putting too much in.

I'm guessing you mean you have 25 cartridges? but out of interest how many atties & what types?

And what sort of stuffing have you got in your carts? I didn't get on with refilling carts until I got some "blue foam" - you should be able to get some from James, but do order something else at the same time else he'll go bust with his low prices and free P&P Let us know when/if you get some, and I or Ian will tell you our filling technique.

Try that combined with wot Chrissie said, see how you get on. Might as well try to use your atties until they die before shelling out on blank cartos

I have got the two that came with the Tornado kit. one regular and on LR from the Riva kit and one 901. I figured it must be me rather than them because five cant all be bad out of the box.

The 901 one seems the best but only gives wisps of vaper and I like lots. Even with pure VG juice.
Flooding could well be an issue.I think I worry about having them too dry so I will try and ease up on the liquid to see if that helps.

I am only using the filler the carts come with. I will try the blue foam but I do like the idea of getting dripping to work for me. I will order some from James. And no need to worry about the P&P as Im really excitted about the new flavours hes been teasing us with.

I agree Wotsit, 5 out of the box can't all be bad.

I get lots of vapour from my atties - even without restuffing the cartridges so something is going wrong somewhere - just wish I could work out what for you.

I know. It would be great to sit down with some one and to see what I should be doing. In the mean time the cartos work really really well for me and I defo dont crave a real cigarette (I have 10 upstairs somewhere and they aren't calling to me) so I am happy enough playing round until it clicks

Wotsit, if it's any comfort I'm having awful trouble filling my EM 510 carto - it's going right thru and the vape is very throat-burning

My view is that the 510 atty is for dripping or feeder devices, they have NEVER wicked well with carts and are, I suspect, historically responsible for the big uptake of dripping. Not a problem unless you want to use carts, I which case I would recommend 901 or LR 901 atomisers every time.

Still a tad puzzled as to why Wotsit is getting such bad results from her atties though. Wot, if you have flooded them, it might be worth you blowing them out (blowing through the battery connection end) & also wiping that end with a tissue to make sure there is no juice there making a bad connection.

As I said I am dead happy with the cartos from Totally Wicked (I think they are the ego ones?) that I keep refilling with a menthol/minty mix of diluted e-juice. They are defo keeping me from even wanting a proper cig.
Its just I would like to expand my flavour choices a bit and as the cartos come prefilled with either menthol or tabaco I would like another way to vape.Menthol I fear would kill any new flavour and I heave at the thought of vaping a tabaco flavour. I was one of those smokers that if I ran out of my menthol fags I would not ever never ever dream of smoking a real fag.

I thinkits a base line thing I need. I dont know enough yet to know what is considered working well or buggered. When I look at youtube I see clouds and clouds of vapour which I kinda get with the cartos but only wisps with the atties.
I have only tried using the carts about 3 times with them so maybe its a case that I need to crack cart vaping before trying dripping. Does that sound right?

I tried again with the 901 last night putting fewer drips in and its working alot better. I think this atty is milder than the 510 right? If so I might of got that one working ok. The rest of the 510ones still taste like yuk, all metally and still very little vapour. Again I have tried blowing them out a few times and putting drops on the bridge. I might give them a wash in warm water.
I wonder if I have broken them with all this messing about? I dont have enough of a clue toknow if they are on the way to working well or are past the best.

i think the idea of finding someone close by is a great one, if it's possible?
