Hi, I recently bought a 510 Riva and was initially very impressed. However after about a week I now get a very strong burnt taste after about 4 to 6 inhales ughhh......... I have tried all that I can think of eg. changing atty, de-wicking, cleaning, black sponge, blue sponge, t-bags etc.....I have also tried normal and LR attys to see if this help (it doesn't) ( when it vapes properly it's fantastic, loads of taste, loads of vape...But can't work out this constant burning taste which is extremely harsh on the throat..... If it helps I have been trying various flavors and have tried 4 different attys. 1 x normal 3 x LR......... Has anyone experienced this? or know of how to solve the problem?

Sounds like your letting the cart run too dry Geoff.
If this is the case, you may have destroyed the atties aswell. Does the attie smell burnt at all?

To solve it, give all your vaping stuff to me, wrapped in a £20 note... as you've tried everything, then I can only suggest that the problem must be you... BTW, when we get to work tomorrow... it's your turn for the brews! PS... will bring you that drip tip tomorrow dude. PPS... I still think you're drawing too hard and it can't wick quick enough for you. Sean

Geoff, dont give in mate.I have had this with 510 carts in the past.510 carts are crap,in my opinion.Get yourself some 901 whistle tip carts and put them on your 510 attys. What happens is that the plastic comes into contact with the atty bridge, and gives the burnt taste.901 carts are a better option mate as this problem doesnt occur at all.If you havent any,i have plenty of spares that i could post you to try.I am 100% sure this will resolve your problem mate. :)Also, you could try cartomisers or clearomisers which will eliminate any flavour loss.I am using clearomisers currently and they are fabulous. No filler, and perfect flavour and throat hit to.Easy to clean, and lasting really well.

Thanks for your reply Ian, I'm willing to try anything (Desperation) ( Trying a whistle tip at the moment off pinhead but don't know if it's a 901 type? fits in the end of 510 atty. Is this the same as you suggest? Didn't get on with cartomisers but what's a clearomiser? Now trying to boil/wash atty's to see if that makes a difference? Do you think there's any milage in my thoughts of the LR atty's burning to hot? there for giving off a burning taste

Thanks hissie,
Can't smell any burning, but having to top up after about 6 draws. surely this can't be right?
Also what really confuses me is it's not all the time. which leave me with the impression atty's are ok.........

Me again Ian, just looked up clearomisers on google images. How do they work or what's different about them? Finally where do you get them for 510 riva as would like to try if you think it may resolve the problem..........

I got some from cloud 9 to try. They were the 3ohm ones, which are really good.Ive just ordered some from Moju Republic which are 2.6-2.8ohms.Basically,its a cartomiser but clear and without filler material. It has 2 small holes in the inner cap, which you fill with a syringe. If you order from Moju Republic the syringe is included in the price. You get an instuction leaflet with them, which is easy to follow. They give a fantastic vape, with perfect flavour and a nice throat hit.I think they are very much like LR901s,which i love.I got the XL ones which hold 1.8ml of juice,so they are great and hassle free.I have had no burnt taste whatsoever with these, and they fit the e-go/riva a treat.Since getting these i have ditched everything else and they are all i want to use.Easy to clean to and they last an age.Ive vaped 30ml through this clearo and its still as good as day one.I know the thought of a syringe is a little off putting but once you have one filled up,it will give you hours and hours of perfect vaping.I think they are real value for money,i would also go as far as to say that they are the best cartos i have ever used,a real godsend to me.If you do get some and need any help just giz a shout mate. There is also alot of advice on UKV,and a video that shows you how to clean them.No boiling or faff required, takes a couple of minutes and your good to go again.

I'd agree with Hissie ( albeit a bit late ) Geoff that it sounds like you're letting the filler in your carts get too dry, which is giving you the burnt taste. It's a fine line between drenching the filler and letting it get bone dry . . . I probably do top up carts after about 6 draws. Hello & a warm welcome from me too.

Yes im still finding this an ongoing problem mate , as suggested cartomisers/clearomisers are a solution if you like the taste/vape so far for me i dont with the ones ive tried , using LR attys makes the problem even worse , also heavy VG juice has the same effect , some solutions that work and sometimes work are Direct dripping , foam filters , 50/50 PG/Vg good luck

Hello & welcome from as well Geoff I'm wondering if it would be worth you getting an adapter & trying out 901 atties? I know I'm in the minority these days but I've always preferred 901's & the only time I ever had a burnt taste was from when I tried 510's.

Hello All, Replying on behalf of Geoff as he's on duty tonight so won't get access until sometime tomorrow! Ian, he's taken your advice and ordered some clearomisers, he'll report back on how they go. I gave him a drip tip today and that seems to be working for him so he's ok for the time being. He's says thanks to all for the welcomes and help. you've all been great! Personally, I think it's his big sausage fingers that are the problem! Sean

Cheers for the update Sean.He wont regret getting them, they are really good.I also agree with Chrissie regarding buying a 510-901 adapter to try the 901s.I now have ditched 510s altogeather,i prefer LR901s,clearomisers and the tank system on GDs tank box.I am still using the clearomisers most, fill her up and go,they last hours and thats with chain vaping to.
