Speeding up steeping times

You need:
masking tape
a self sealing bag (the ones juice come in are fine)
a washing machine which can do a spin cycle only.

Method:

make sure the lid is tightly attached and then use the masking tape to seal it.

Place the bottle in the bag and seal.
(if doing more than one bottle at a time, make sure they are in separate bags)

pop into the washing machine and set to the fastest spin cycle and set it going.

Once done remove from washer, bag and remove masking tape.

Open the bottle and allow to steep for 2 days.

You should now have the same results as a weeks worth of normal steeping.

Next, I'm going to test 2 hours on low heat in the drier to see what the results are.

Which reminds me of the time I once bought my little one a massive box of second hand Lego bits, and they were filthy. So I had the bright idea of putting them in a pillow case, tieing the ends and putting them through the washer. The bloody case opened and it took me hours to fish all the teeny bits of out the machine.

Was reading about speeding up steeping last night. Using an ulltrasonic cleaner that also heat is getting great results. I might try the washing machine later on

Ultra sonic cleaner should be better because it is safer and pretty fast , get one from maplin only. Thirty pounds .
Also in long run , washing machine use more electrics

Ultrasonic cleaners work very well.... they agitate by pulsing the liquid with sound waves via an ultrasonic transmitter that typically produces 40-kHz that is attached to the bottom of the cleaning tank, combined with warming the liquid it will reduce steeping time considerably.

An ultrasonic cleaner is great for steeping and cleaning to boot..the 'throw it in the washing machine' technique will probably work, but seems a bit weird to me

Maybe I'm a bit of a masochist but steeping time adds to the excitement, counting down the days like waiting for Christmas. Is it ready yet?

I prefer the "Top off, in a cup of warm water and a few 20 second Nukes in the microwave, thumb over the opening and shake it between Nukes" method. Leave it in the water to cool with the top off and give it another 12 hours or so and it is generally Fettled proper!

I am very dubious about the effectiveness of using a spin cycle in a washing machine.

Logically, applying a centrifugal force to a liquid enhances seperation and will not aid mixing of a solution. Also being within a sealed environment (bag) will not aid gaseous exchange.

It would seem the most likely viable candidates for speeding up steeping times would be those that assist in venting and / or mixing. Such as:

Decant liquid into a vented container with large surface area such as a Petrie dish and place on a heated vibrating plate.

It would be logical to assume that standing the open juice bottle in a container of warm water and periodically shaking the bottle would also suffice however with reduced efficacy.

As ultrasound is already widely used for mixing and maturing liquids in other fields it would be logical to assume the same benefits could be applied to steeping juice.
