Izan, I am curious to know how you knew it cost less than £30 shipped when Ratty hasnt mentioned where she ordered it from and why it seems such a personal affront to you that she is unhappy? Ratty, The last thing we want as vapers is some rogue traders selling crap passed off, especially if theyre aware that the product is shoddy. Go with the paypal dispute. I watched the thread as she rung her hands about it and then finally, could not let the deal get away and ordered. Seemingly against her better judgement. Most of the vendors here are one guy/gal. No one forces anyone to buy anything. The vendor tries to bring the best quality at the best price. It is not a huge faceless corporation that only wants your money, it a person like you and me trying to make a living. He/she had a bunch of these units left from last year. They didn't sell well at £££, because they sucked, so a year later they are being given away for £. It's not an evil plot. Merry Christmas I I'd love to know where that thread is, as as far as I'm concerned I only posted in the vendors post - AFTER I'd ordered it and said "Oops have just treated myself to a thundervolt - what can I say, my finger slipped...several times...lol "

I am an educated buyer. I know a lot about MANY companies, many products as well. It is in MY best interest. I don't have much £ to waste, I looked at the deal and it was AWESOME, but it was only an AWESOME price, the product was of questionable reputation. I can't afford to roll those dice. I walked away. You should have too. But you didn't. It was only, ever, always your choice. I was hoping you got lucky and kicked myself for NOT ordering all weekend. But in the end I am poor. I am sorry your device broke, I can imagine how much that sucks, but it really was only a matter of time anyway, right?
Merry Christmas I

Thing is they look like the original lavatube, theres many fakes out there that have some differences. I guess its not hard for the manufacturers to clone it completely though, but the original one which has been around for a while can last a fair while, maybe it cant withstand too many falls or maybe 50% of them might have only a tiny amount of glue or solder compared to the rest, but tbh with the new version out its definitely going to mean the older one will drop in price. The kit version comes with a cheap battery so wouldnt expect the battery to maybe be as reliable as others, and some kits do come with fairly suspect looking chargers also they usually sell it for a fair bit higher in line with other vendors, only reduced it temporarily by a high %, other uk shops are also reducing their lavatubes and might have big reductions on all their items, so it seems to be a problem with fake lavatubes being sold more than anything. edit: or maybe if its a real one, then theres might not always be good batches going around of them, and in that case the manufacturer should fix the problem, however they dont always.

All I'd heard about the Lavatube had been fairly positive, and I'd wanted one for a while. As far as I was concerned it was only at that price as a short term sale - they happen.
There was nothing to say they were that price because they were not the original ones.
I've either been conned, or got a faulty product and whichever way it goes I shouldn't have to lose out.

izan--In your own manner you have put your point across well--and I must admit I agree with a lot of it.My rule of the thumb is "Buy cheap and you buy twice"

I bought one of these, body only, from 2Smok a couple of months ago as they were selling them for £15 and it was too good a price to miss.
The build quality is crap and I wasn't expecting otherwise, but in fairness it has performed well with a decent amount of usage.
Maybe I've been lucky, or Ratty's been unlucky, but if they are knowingly selling sub-standard goods then they should be advertising them as such. On the other hand, if this was just one dodgy one in the batch then the vendor should be prepared to listen to customers and deal with any issues accordingly, as I'm sure the vast majority of vendors who advertise on the board would.
I can understand what Izan is saying, the phrase "I don't have enough money to buy cheap" comes to mind, and if mine gave up the ghost tomorrow after a couple of months I'd almost certainly write it off, but a couple of weeks is just plain shoddy.

Looks like they improved the lavatube in the v2 just released, theres no more top section, looks like its all built into the tube, also the body is much thicker so it should be able to take some falls like the provari does. Maybe they realised having that top section separate was a weakness and addressed it

I bought a few of these when they were really cheap as well and they are still going strong. Sorry to hear that you are having so much trouble with yours Sarah, what shocks me most is the response that you got from the vender as all Thundervolts come from them with a 60 day warranty, which they have written on their site and on another forum. If you get no further with the vender maybe you should make PayPal aware of the warranty.

Sarah, I agree with you 100% on opening a paypal dispute. It makes no difference whether an item costs £1 or £100, it should do the job that the vendor states it should and as someone else has wisely pointed out, if it's a cheap copy not expected to last more than '5 minutes', then the vendor should warn prospective buyers or simply not sell it. Some of us have no choice other than to be frugal as we have to watch the pennies, so although the saying 'you get what you pay for' may be true, we still expect to get an acceptable amount of usage out of whatever we buy, which is certainly more than just a few weeks.

OK paypal dispute started. Seller has replied with a load of rubbish making it sound like the damage was done on purpose and has escalated it to a claim so I guess all I can do now is sit tight and wait.

It does not matter whether the price is cheap or not............. others have bought one (I didnt as I didnt see the offer) and they have had no probs or there would be more posts...........if Sarah got a duff one then the seller should do the right thing and either replace or refund.............at the very least he should have taken it back and tested it................matters not a jot if they're cheap........... the seller unfortunately, has taken a stance that is not good customer relations wise.
Hope it goes well and you get the money back Sarah

I hope you get your money back to Sarah and should think paypal will be in your favour, cant believe anyone's knocking you for trying to get a good deal from a vendor that is a seller on this forum, and a seller on this forum with a poor attitude, now that's a concern,
I have two V1 lavatubes both mini and full size and both are rock solid and cost a whisker over 20 quid each
