well, if I still remember, my father used to sometimes give me the cigarette "to see how awful" it was ! I guess that kind of approach didn't stick as I happily tried them later!

27 years.. However.. I think it's very encouraging that there are many ex long-term smokers here, it just goes to show that old habits can be broken afterall! Too right. I vape from morning til late but....i can leave my vapes at home, collect my little one from nursery and go to the park for an hour and not even think about it.If i'd walked down the road without a smoke in my hand and more in my pocket i'd think of nothing else until i got home.Miracle !!

(((Dee)))) The results so far of this poll are amazing! All those many years so many of us have tried to give up/cut down & nothing in the past has worked.

30 years, with a few short breaks. Vaping 1 week tomorrow and had 2 cigs, 1 of them was when the battery was charging on my e cig. The second was when i had put the curtain pole up wrong twice then i banged my head very hard on the corner of the boiler looking for some wall plugs, went outside and had a cig which i didn't enjoy, but that's over 100 cigs i haven't smoked.

Had my first taste of a cig at 13, still remember how awful it was when I inhaled thought I was going to either pass out or throw up!! How did I ever continue to a 30 a day habit?! It's been 36 years since then and now I get flashbacks to that day in the school toilets every time I light up the odd cig. The end is (very) near!! Dizi

Had my first cig when I was 16 and it has been 15 years...
Thanks to vaping I am now cig free for the past three weeks...
I remember those times when I had to have too many mints hoping it would mas that horrible stink of smoke when ever I had to go near my parents...

Aldo - hi gorgeous Flirting now over...... truth prevails. My first cigarette was smoked 46 years ago. I remember it well. I was on the coast in SW England, on the rocks, with a chap - and fishing! How romantic was that? But..... I succombed to the puffing, although I remember feeling very light-headed and queezy. That alone should have put me off, but sadly it didn't. Being a teenager in the 60's, everyone who was anyone smoked. It was a bit like the designer clothing statement that today's teenagers need to make. Over the following years (you can do the maths) I tried several times to reduce, give up, using various methods - pills, accupuncture, hypnosis. None worked at all - my willpower is zilch - until I found this forum last year. June 16th was my give-up-finally date, so now 9 months fag-free, smell-free etc. And despite the hiccups along the way - batteries blowing up on me ) I am now a vaper, no longer a smoker. And during that time, have also persuaded four other smokers to become vapers. Hope that helps - but where was I? Oh yes, Hi Gorgeous (P.S. - you'll get used to me - I am harmless really. xx ) And before Jerry gets upset: Hi Hun, how are you today, over there across the miles?
