I have a fair few batteries that look identical to those ones. I bought them when 'he who shall not be named' was selling off all the SD stuff cheaply

Looks like the charger is to blame though. Which one did you buy robby?

I had a small plug in charger blow up on me on Saturday, it only took an 18350 battery, it came with my e pipe (that packed in as well), I'm now using the charger I had from Freedom Vape to charge 18350s, if I need to charge a 18650 as well I use my ego tube mod plugged into an ego charger, should get an XStar from Jason tomorrow, also waiting on a Trustfire charger from Amazon along with 2x18650 3000mah batteries. My Vamo flashed up a message for low ohms, the nova that on it was re-headed Sunday with a 2.8 head, the Vamo said 2.7 but I think they come with an allowance of +or- 0.2, it is now reading 1.1 on the Vamo although 2 nova minis I'm also using are reading 1.9 and they are marked 1.8. Dave

The Vamo one I've got was terminating at 4.21V on the multimeter, 4.3V on the Vamo display for the first few days with a green light. Then it started the red/green flashing light thing at 4.2 ???

Dave Sounds like you have shorted coil turns possibly or fused together.

Is it the same charger as the burnt one? I have a single charger from another kit, which does that every time. Near the end of charge, it flashes red and green,. As it nears charge end, the green flashes get longer and the red flashes get shorter. When fully charged, the green stays on all the time.

vapour_tron on aussievapers site says:
"Be very carefull. I would not use those chargers . After charging your batteries check the voltage on it if it over 4.3V Its overcharging One of the batteries that i tested on the a very similar type to yours reached 4.75V unloaded Batteries of that kind will start to break down at 4.5V unloaded and normally Vent at 4.8V . Its just not worth the risk. I dont mean to alarm anyone But just be carefull. Here is a quote from the Battery Universaty
"Overcharging Lithium-ion Lithium-ion operates safely within the designated operating voltages; however, the battery becomes unstable if inadvertently charged to a higher than specified voltage. Prolonged charging above 4.30V forms plating of metallic lithium on the anode, while the cathode material becomes an oxidizing agent, loses stability and produces carbon dioxide (CO2). The cell pressure rises, and if charging is allowed to continue the current interrupt device (CID) responsible for cell safety disconnects the current at 1,380kPa (200psi).
Should the pressure rise further, a safety membrane bursts open at 3,450kPa (500psi) and the cell might eventually vent with flame." "
