Hi I'm in the second stage of my love with the Riva 510 - disillusionment. These are temperamental babes I'm finding out and the honeymoon seems to be over Started with help from you guys a month ago and had a great 3-4 weeks -when troubles started. Went through 3 atties in 1 day without much vapour. Checked all batteries were charged, used a new one, made sure I wasn't over flooding or starving the atties, followed 'most every advise here but no joy. Someone had recommended 901 carts - ordered those but not much help. Tried the LR attie that came in the starter kit. Lasted all of 15 minutes. Got red hot first, then nothing - wasn't even getting warm, let alone produce vapour. Tried 501 cartomiser - better initially but got my lips burnt a couple of times, they got hot so quick > Suddently, day before yesterday, they started working again with regular atties! I'm not sure what I did, but I sure was using new atties (having lost 3 regular + 1 LR). The experience is much better but I have to keep topping up after every maybe 15-20 minutes because after that the taste changes and it feels as if the filler is burnt. Also, it takes only 4-5 drops to fill again - so it's not as if I vape the whole lot in a cart off. Any ideas? Are my batteries dead (have been alternating between 2)? What's the typical life of these batteries? How are atties supposed to be cleaned and cared for? Some people here swear by DSE901 LR atties. Should I try those? Is there a place where I can get both the atties and the adapter? Finally my struggle with finding a nice juice still ongoing, but I'm beginning to like caramel & DK tab quite a bit. Any further suggestions for something sweet (I have a permanent bitter taste in my mouth due to some medicines I take)? Sorry for rambling on, but I really want to make this work. Thanks in advance Jason

Hi Jason, sorry I'm not going to be much help. For starters I've never actually used a Riva. My only thoughts are that one of your batteries is faulty - causing our atties to short? But if that was the case, I'm not sure why they would start working again. Liberty Flights sell the LR901 atties & adapters. I'm hoping some others will be along soon to help you further Please don't ever feel you have to apologies about rambling

I bought a Riva too (901) about 10 days ago... So far so good, and I've been vaping quite often, needing to charge both batteries almost everyday ! 0o I wish I could help you further! Are you still using the original cart filler?! I am and honestly hating it! I have the same problem regarding cartridges! I've been direct dripping a lot to avoid messing with the filler! As far as atties are concerned, I gave up on the reg ones almost completely! I keep 2 lr901 and a lr510 on hand all the time! I still use the reg 901 once in a while for true degustation though!

Thanks for the replies guys. Chrissie, I couldn't find the adapters on LF. Could you please help? Aldo, my LR 501 attie lasted all of 15 minutes - so I'm scared of spending money on those. However, some people say LR 901s are good. Should I try those? I am still using the original cart filler but have ordered the blue foam thingy today. I was thinking of buying the joye super xl kit (with 900 mAh batteries and 2ml carts ) but couldn't find a supplier from the list here. Can anyone suggest where I can find these? Are they any good? replacement atties are quite expensive at £10 a pop, as are the batteries, though. Jason

Jason, from your description of what is happening, it sounds to me like you may be puffing hard and fast on only one e-cig. If that's how you use it, I would suggest that you have at least two or even three e-cigs handy and rotate them, so they have a chance to cool down a bit.

Unfortunatly Jason it's trial & error with e-cigs. People can offer all the advice in the world, but ultimatly it's generally down to you finding ways that suit your vaping needs. I started with a Riva 510, then bought Tornado batts, but I now wished I'd stayed true to the Riva. I adore mine & intend to purchase more Riva batts when Perpy takes on the EM order again

There's a few options here Jason to my way of thinking . . . so forgive my ramblings.
Firstly I'd agree completely with Jerry, if you're using one ecig exclusively and continously . . . they are running hot a lot of the time, something I'm convinced doesn't help the actual vaping experience or the longevity of your gear.
You might consider a Mega 510 LR or Standard 510 Mega Atomiser on your Riva . . . they give a very good vape.
Or, if funds permit perhaps a new ecig mod that you could alternate usage with?
In which case I'd recommend a GGTB which comes with a 901 atomiser connection and with a LR901 is a lovely vape.

Do you spend a lot of time on one place, Jason? If so, then the Garry Dibley passthru is a great option. Used with a powered USB hub it gives a good 5v vape, and the combined leads add up to quite a length allowing you to be sat quite a way from the power socket. Use with a standard 901 atty (510>901 adapter req'd), or the new clearomiser works well (check the right ohms for 5v vaping) - haven't tried the giantomiser yet. www.liberty-flights.co.uk/product.asp?id=58I can never find my link to the eBay hub, it's about £6-7, Chrissie will have it handy I bet Just an idea. scylla

Sorry for being late - had to look after the kids Scylla - thanks for the link. I'll check out the giantomiser thread you've pointed to. JerryRM - I have always used 2 e-cigs and rotated between them. Initially the battieries lasted almost one full day (for my vaping levels). Recently it's gone down, but i haven't kept track- maybe 8-10 hrs. You are right about taking it easy - it's better when I vape at a liesurely place but at work it's a bit of a rush to get back Hissie - agree completely that it's trial and error and there's only so much that someone can help you. Perpetua - sorry for my ignorance, but what's a ' Mega Atomiser'? I've heard only of standard or LR atties. Similarly, what's a 'GGTB' and where can I get these? LF? Scylla - yes I spend a lot of time at work but just cannot vape there despite being legally allowed to! Normally we go out and can smoke only in the designated smoking area. Thanks all J

If you spend a lot of time at your PC when you're home, or watching TV (even better if they're in the same room), it would still be a good idea to get the passthru+hub. You can use the same atties as on your Riva batteries Maybe when you've got spare dosh. Bear in mind, with the passthru you never need to spend out on replacing the battery, never need to charge a battery, and as long as you're within 7-8 feet (?) of a power point you are good to go scylla

At home too, I avoid vaping inside as much as I can - I don't want to vape in front of the kids (11 & 3) and have them think it's 'cool' because daddy does it, IYKWIM.
