The wink smiley

I mean this one..

I have seen it peppered in various posts and overused as if the person offering advise or making a comment is somehow a seer endowed with celestial knowledge..

Do you go around winking every time you offer advise or make an observation? If you really did that then you need your head examined.. Just do it in front of a mirror and you would also realize how facetious it looks..

I accept there is a place for it but not in every post FFS..

Macca I try not to overuse the smiley and use them appropriately (I hope) if I do. I know some people use them to cover up snide or sarcastic comments. I feel the wink is deffinately used for cheekyness lol

I could just as easily block the smiley out of existence..

Just strikes me as really odd that so many people would use this smiley in the most inappropriate places..Just imagine someone speaking to you and winking every time they make a statement. I am sure most sensible people would be calling for the loony bin van within 2 minutes.

I once heard somebody say vocally, "lol", I thought he leads a very sheltered life.

What context is the wink smiley supposed to be used?, am I so far behind that smiley vocabulary has made it into the national curriculum?.

Think I'm more prone to happy smiley usage, but if I'm completely honest, I'd much rather see commas and full stops.

A wink is not really an emotion is it, to be used with sentences like:

I have a VIVI NOVA and I am very happy with it..

I took the dogs for a walk today..

If you use 0.2 mm wire you may find it better..

I am thinking WTF!
