Had an Ultrafire 18650 3000mah battery go dead on me a few days ago and was waiting to go to the recycling center. Having never taken the wrapper off from one of these I decided to see what was under the hood. Turns out they're made by Samsung. I googled the exact same numbers shown on the battery and saw that they really only have a 2600mah rating. I don't think this is right or fair to upsell what is in reality not true. It was bought from a reputable dealer that specializes in batteries. Not to say they are aware of it, but they will be informed soon. I'd be curious to know if anyone else has looked at these same batteries after they died and ran across the same thing...anyone out there? Pix attached. Attachments:

I have some and will try take a look at them but mine are still alive as it stands !.
You could always take them to the equivalent of Trading Standards to see what they say as if the seller you got them from wants them back & they are aware of this they might brush it under the carpet so to speak.

As a newbie I'm finding this a bit of a mine field, people selling things that aren't what they claim to be is surely playing into the hands of the regulators, I'm glad I found you lot to keep me right. 3 days without a cig by the way so it would be a shame to lose all this cos someone wants a quick profit.

Someone who knows more will probably explain why, but I do notice it mentioned a lot on this forum that it's better not to buy ***fire batteries.

They are likely old laptop stock that samsung sold to the highest bidder, Im confident samsung wouldnt give a toss what happened to them once they got paid.

That pic in the opening post looks very much like a recycled laptop cell ??? These were purchased as individual cells. The circuitry tab and wire strip are added on as the protection to supposedly prevent over charging or draining past 3.2v. This is typically what's inside most protected (non IMR) 1800 series batteries. Just ran across this looking for reference pix.http://breaktru.com/smf/index.php?topic=289.0 These were bought from a reputable dealer here in the states so I could avoid substandard or counterfeits. So much for that. Most e-cig dealers & suppliers carry this exact battery, so I'd assume that not only are we being duped by suppliers too. I realize that all these secondary names have the big boys manufacture for them, but how about real ratings on the labels. That's all I'm asking for. Attachments:

You should contact the vendor, advise what has happened & request replacement 'genuine' 18650 3000mAh batts or a full refund. Batts that size should last for up to 500 charges. If the vendor isn't helpful advise him that you will be contacting his local trading standardss office to make a formal complaint.
