Raggie....says on the youtube vid that it's called replacement filter sponge and it was bought at Petsathome in the uk for £1.99 I went up to my local pet shop and was faced with 2 full shelves of filter replacement thingies, but nothing as cheap as £1.99, i ended up getting ones at £3.20, but upon having another look at the video, it's not the right thing... wot i got was 5 pads of wooly stuff, but the right stuff looks more like a plastic mesh sponge...i've checked P@ H online and they have www.petsathome.com/shop/mini-filter-sponge-for-elite-mini-filters-16322 , which might be the same?

Are you both referring to something different from Fluval? That's widely used by vapers, easy to cut and roll into stuffing, well rated by most.

I'm using the Fluval (on Scylla's recommendation) and it's excellent. As fish are particularly vulnerable to chemicals, I feel pretty safe using it and find it possibly better than the original filler. Fox

I got the black sponges from P@H, they're not the same make as the ones in the vid, but they look the exact same...
Going ok so far....

From Andy's vid, the black sponge looks like it's easier to to use than cutting up & rolling into shape the white Fluval filter material.
