Flat Kanthal.

I follow the Facebook group "of wick and wire" and have been following the use of Flat ribbon kanthal as opposed to round wire.

It seems very good as it makes more contact with the wick therefore more effectively evaporating the liquid.

Makes sense I suppose, though what I'll do with the miles of ordinary Kanthal I've got . . . not sure.

Might have to get some though . . . .

If you already have some wire, why not just try and flatten some out just to try it.

bought my Ribbon wire when the numbers were 90 units sold back on 1/7/2013.
Right now (1/15/2013) the number stands at 514 units sold. Goes to show up the peoples opinion matter.

followed a thread on ecf about the kanthal ribbon and some said it was an improvement and some didn't like it so I never bothered with it, i'd be interested to see what others think if they do try it.

My only concern is it may outstrip the juice if a wick cant 'wick' fast enough, time will tell.

Had a weekend away and have been waiting to do a coil with this wire, arrived in a plain envelope from Poland in record time.

5 wraps on a 2.5mm wick produces 1.6 ohm, and more vapour at 9 watts than Ive ever seen.

Good to hear skwoddy - I've got some of this on the way as well. It got my attention when people reported that you get much less problem with hot spots because of the wider connection area to your mesh.
