Flat Kanthal.

Skwoddy kindly chucked some in the post so hopefully I'll get a look soon. I've been reading up on this stuff and it seems very promising.
I hope it doesn't make the many miles of ordinary wire I here redundant

I would have thought there was a greater likelihood of a short as there is a larger area in contact with the mesh - hope i'm wrong

First coil was on a DID, now for me DID's were never easy but i got the hang of it eventually, but now you mention it I didnt need to tweak the coils whatsoever, not a hot spot in sight. I chose the DID because of the nice nuts to trap flat wire in. No issues on either the DID or an IGO dripper, but the small screws on a Igo require you to either squash the wire or do a complete turn of wire arount the post before tightening the screw. Not so on the did.

Just done my Aga T with 5 wraps on a 2mm drillbit at 1.5ohms.

No problem trapping the wire nor wicking and I found it easier to wrap in a neater coil.

I think I may be converted.

Coiled my genesis v2 just about managed 3 wraps no probs came out at 1.4 ohms,
I like the flat kanthal I found if I run a flame over it easier to work with.

Hi rab, when you run a flame over the kanthal, does it make it more pliable?, less springy maybe?

I got mine today and firstly I tried it in the spheroid, flamed it and wound a 2ohm coil- couldn't tell any difference from the normal wire
So then I tried it on the DiD, payed particular attention to keeping it flat around the wick and wound a 1.8ohm coil, now I made these wraps free hand, no drill bits but when I pressed the fire button on the vamo, the coils lit up evenly- didn't have to touch it I put some juice in a fired it up- spot on
I thought it was a fluke so I ripped that coil off and wound another- same thing
I put some in a vh genesis, awkward little buggas they are at the best of times but first time again
I can't say that I have noticed the reported extra vapour but I can say that for genesis atties this stuff is a dream to work with.
For silica it makes no difference at all-

Ah glad my opinions werent too biased then, havent tried it on silica as yet, but im definitely seeing more vapour, although all my coils are 1.5 ohms or less, maybe juice types too, but all my interest was peeked from watching the other reviews. Im sold on the genesis colis, but have put off using it on the Kayfun because theres not alot of room in there, perhaps tomorrow.
