Hi there. I bought a SKYcig about 6 months ago, but only started using it yesterday. I have found to my dismay that I can't use it - as soon as I try and take a drag I start coughing really badly. I have tried various techniques, but all with the same result. I have googled this and found that it could be due to the PG content in the SKYcig cartomiser, and that maybe I should try using one which uses VG instead. As I have spent quite a bit of money on the kit, I was hoping that I could maybe buy cartomisers that will fit the SKYCig that contain VG rather than PG. Does anybody know of any cartomisers that will fit in the SKYCig as I want to avoid another expensive mistake! I really, really want to give up the dirty fags ASAP so I would reallya ppreciate advice on this! Thanks

Hi and welcome. A lot of people cough to begin with. The technique to vaping is very different to smoking. With a cig you take a quick deep drag, and pull it as far into the lungs as possible then blow out the smoke. With vaping you need to take a long (3-4 second) slow draw. Keep the vapour in your mouth and throat for a couple of seconds (this is where the nic is absorbed) then either inhale it or simply exhale, prefereably through the nose which helps with the flavour I hope this helps

The other thing to mention is don't throw away the empty Skycig cartos and don't buy any more from them. They can be re-filled with e-juice much more cheaply and with much better flavours

Skycigs have a 510 connection so you can put pretty much any cartomiser on them, most people struggle with vape to begin with, as it tends to hit harder than tobacco smoke, maybe try a juice with a milder throat hit til you get used to it, like banoffee.

Thanks, I have tried the method you describe, and I'm still coughing like a trooper . I'll carry on trying with it today and see how it goes - I have a vanilla cartridge in at the moment which seems quite smooth. Maybe it's just me ???

A warm welcome to you Kirstickle. Excellent advice already given, which I can't better, other than to say that my vaping technique is completely different to how I used to draw and inhale on a cigarette. I vape exactly as Oneday has said . . . it can take a little time to adjust, so stick with it.

Thanks Perp - so do you think maybe the PG/VG thing is a red herring? I'm willing to try anything! My OH has a pipe type contraption which he started with yesterday and he is getting on great with it. That makes me cough too! Aggggh I'm gutted! OK, off to try again... >

No not a red herring Kir, PG can affect some that way . . . but it's a bit early in your vaping journey to put that down as the cause of your coughing, lots of folk do when they first start.
Maybe look at how your hubby is using his pipe and try to mimic his technique before you rush off and buy VG products.

The only advise l can offer is that happened to me when l started and l found that if you take a puff don't inhale it until you have had 6 puffs then do it gradually that way it seems to stop the awful coughing that you are getting if this does not work you might be better off with a vg pg mix that is the most obvious thing that springs to mind and take it slowly it won't happen overnight usually.
