The eagle cam was down a day or two ago, for a while. It's OK now The ospreys are up 'n running fine. Storm has been KO'd again this morning, I'm sure that chick will be brain damaged Yesterday Star was doing a lot of housework amongst the sticks around the nest. A bit heart-stopping cos s/he was off-cam on the edge scylla x (I' used this thread to try to add ospreys to the title. But it didn't work )

This is Star emerging and tempted to do more housework. S/he didn't venture away from EJ, it's a bit chilly.

I was trying to take a shot showing the white tips emerging on the feathers between head and neck - but he wouldn't keep his head still, kept shaking it over and over - then I realised why - his head is covered in flies, some of them are visible here. Poor dears

Scyll, those flies are swarming all over the bones the eagles were eating earlier. The parents need to chuck 'em out - the bones I mean!! MM

An alarming sight just greeted me at the eagles nest - they must be around the edges scylla I just checked it, Scyl, all three of them are at the edge. It must be getting close to the time that they take their first flight.

Thanks for the heads-up. All three chicks are here, albeit mostly in silhouette, with dear Dad - the first time I've seen either parent for weeks and weeks They just won't keep still for me to get a really good pic > scylla

The osprey are reinforcing the nest daily - I suppose they must keep the battlements high especially now that Star is so adventurous (I'm hoping to have a video clip for ya soon!). However, mum is terribly careless - if she's not swiping the chicks around the head she's dropping sticks right on top of them scylla

Nothing spectacular, I'm afraid - the drama was in me capturing and uploading it, then finding that the last five-sixths of it comprised my surfing and the contents of my hard drive Then trying to find a program I could use to chop all that off - "could use" being the operative words Anyway, you can see here Storm's projectile poop and Star's head bobbing up at the front edge - EJ was a bit concerned at first but then chilled. scylla

If you are a behaviourist you may find you can watch it all the way thru. Otherwise, just say how clever I am and I'll be happy
