I don't know if anyone else has noticed, but TV is now warning about 'lungworm' being on an alarming increase. I have also just seen a headline on the Yahoo home page. Might be worth checking with your vet. I can't seem to find any preventative treatment advice anywhere, so will be giving mine a ring for advice. Teddy is a four-legged dustbin; anything goes down! uk.news.yahoo.com/4/20110406/tuk-dog-owners-warned-over-killer-worm-dba1618.html

bluecow - thanks for that. Presumably those areall for once the dog has it? Or are they something you would give to prevent? I do get an awful lot of snails in my garden.

they are all standard "wormers", and like all wormers should be given regularly to treat, remove and prevent an infestation.
Advocate (i think), is the longest acting lungworm preventative, but its also the most expensive.

Thanks for the advice, bluecow - I shall have to check those out and organise some. Teddy eats anything, and my Thai dog loves to bury things, then dig up and eat them. > MM - hi hunnie I emailed you earlier.

Eww, I suppose lungworm is similar to the terrible heartworm I see on my US Animal Cops programmes - they say that that is not expensive to prevent.
