Dang dang dang !!! Not a NRT !! Not reduced harm.....Not to cut back....
Myself...I loved smoking !! I found an alternative I liked better !!! My cigarettes never tasted this good !
An Alternative !!!!!!!
I am soooo fed up with our governments...all of them !! I have been off work the past 2 weeks and have been "reading around the world".....
I am so stunned at what is going on......
I just can't put down into words what I really want to say....

The timing is not, I think, coincidental. Once NICE prognosticates on NCPs such as e-cigs and their inclusion in a harm-reduction policy under the aegis of the DoH, then MHRA's case is strengthened massively. They can then regulate under that policy - so, not just medicinal, but also hard reduction. This is a very complex game of chess, and these buggers are changing the rules as they go along!!

Hifi,if i have to get a dictionary out when you post i wont be a happy bunny :-D The MHRA already strengthened their case when they got the results the wanted from the NCP consultation. The big guns went for Option 2 just what they wanted. Now there's the chance that E-Cigs will end up under a separate heading of Harm Reduction, away from NRT so as to not be in competition.
Unless someone has the balls to treat ECigs as already being under the MHRA they are going to get all their own way and they will make all the decisions for us,in advance of anything that may happen in the future 18 Months. The one thing to watch is the nicotine strengths that they are going to allow.

Without being too pessimistic . . . it did cross my mind as to how much of the decision making process has already been done by the MHRA and how much this 'consultation' period is for appearances sake?

I've been checking out the NICE consultation. It runs for 18 months and they are now asking for groups and individuals to sign up.Kate has signed Vapers Network up as an interested group and as much as i'd like to do the individuals it seems to be asking for smokers only !! The meetings take place once every 4 - 8 weeks and meetings will take place in Manchester and London. www.nice.org.uk/media/2F2/F0/TobaccoHarmReductionPDGMeetingDates.pdf

Gosh, this forum has gotten big, nice work Chrissie and all. Just dropping in to see if Chrissie is going to register All About Ecigs as a stakeholder (closing date 13 May 2011). I don't think it matters if you don't want to submit anything to the consultation but you'll show them that we're interested and keeping up to date - guidance.nice.org.uk/PHG/Wave23/23/ScopeConsultationThere is also an opportunity for individuals to participate and this might be even more important. I haven't heard of any vapers joining up yet and I beleive it is important to get some on that panel. It's not for smokers only, is anyone interested? Dr Carl Phillips from TobaccoHarmReduction.org says:
"UK THRers: NICE call for layperson applications to "THR" committee; chance for real THR in antiTHR process.
"Any of you in the UK who have personally experienced THR should send applications. Read the call and taylor your application to their criteria. This process is trying to mis-define THR to basically mean abstinence, but this is a chance to push back against that. Let me know you have applied; in case they just select anti-HR people we will be able to challenge them with how many people with real THR success stories were rejected."
