It's funny that you mentioned this. I was just thinking today about the trust we put in people who make this stuff. I think recommended vendors are the safest way to go...

Figgis, that's been a recent hot subject. I believe ECITA are carrying out tests on a lot of eliquid and most vendors should provide said tests if you ask for them. Someone with more up to date knowledge should be able to help you better than I. I suspected it had been discussed, but I've barged into e-cigs, with a somewhat hectoring tone to the wife, brushing aside her concerns and saying they are completely safe. My main problem was that 'light-bulb' moment when you don't really know the answer to an obvious question. I know fags are bad, it's easy to prove, but it would do a lot of favours for supporting e-cigs if I could stand up and state that there are no health risks and this does seem an obvious Achilles heel which could be exploited by anti-E-cig proponents. It'd certainly help to shut the missus up and get her to try them

Figgis, I just noticed you are in Cambridgeshire! be sure to check out Bedford market's vapoursjuice stall if you can ever wander over. Lovely couple to deal with. I picked up a few bits from them. Ego-C Twist 900mah Choco monkey eliquid - 30ml Strawberry mint (Lovely) - 20ml Mini vivi nova x2 £30 for the lot - an absolute steal. They sell at slightly reduced rates than their website and are just wonderful people - they even knocked some money off when I said I had travelled to see them. Whats also great as they have their juices all available to sample. Well worth the half hour trip for me - and the mrs got to do a bit of shopping so she was happy too! Tom

That's something worth knowing about mate !
Which days are they there ? I could do a nice vape and a chat over a coffee whilst the boss goes about her so important business of scurrying round from shop to shop.

Kosher e liquid businesses have to be run the same as restaurant kitchens by law adhering to stringent food safety standards. Sterilisation of equipment, regularly cleaned floors, anti bacterial cleansed surfaces etc. and premises can be spot checked at any time.

I would answer "How do you know every place you eat out at, every electrical item you buy and every item of food you buy from the supermarket is 100% safe?"

Just to add. Looking at the list in this nicotine NRT inhaler at the start of the thread makes a mockery of the "powers that be" arguments over e-cigs. Everything from the ingredients being safe for inhalation to nicotine levels.
They know full well exactly what is in e-cigs, it's not a secret. They also KNOW that it's safe hence the inhaler in this thread.
All the "We don't know if they are safe or not or if they work as a smoking cessation device" (even though they aren't marketed as that.) Is frankly utter bollocks and proves there is something else involved in the proposed EU ban as well as the current bans.

That post of yours Karma with the ingredients in is excellent, wish I had that for my letters to the MO and MEP's but have copied and pasted it into my notebook for further use.

Someone with more up to date knowledge should be able to help you better than I. I looked up what ECITA does when I was failing to get people interested in getting some sort of regulation into this market. They do tests for their members (to ensure their stuff isn't contaminated etc), but don't, as far as I could see, produce any public reports or any sort of kite-mark to distinguish their approved suppliers from the rest. Most of their members are cig-alike rather than our sort of suppliers, and few of the vendors on our list here are ECITA members. A notable exception is Liberty Flights. I still think that if we don't do something about basic safety-level quality control then the politicians will do it for us and they will get it wrong.

What other industry vending goods for public consumption, doesn't have some sort of regulation in place . . . is there one?

Personally I think the vendors have been very good in self regulating. They are acting responsibly which gives me confidence in their products. Haven't heard a single story about a rogue vendor injuring anyone yet and tbh if someone decided to do us harm regulation wouldn't stop that.
More regulations means more cost and more expensive products for us.
I prefer to not look for problems when there aren't any.

This discussion obviously brings the question..... Are the forum vendor status rules comprehensive enough?
