i think this type is best as the others digital etc seem more geared to times of day rather than just being able to use it as a egg timer if you get my meaning

Frightening pictures Raggy - thank goodness neither you or your wife were injured in any way. well it certainly opens your eyes to what these batteries can do, and if it dont open them it could well close them permanently. the thing is 5 to 10 seconds before it went off while holding the now unplugged charger i was staring at it from less than 1 foot as i thought it was fizzing, it was. i placed it on the drainer and boom. i/we were very lucky it missed both of us, lucky we were there to unplug it and lucky i found the battery behind the cooker extractor where it was still smouldering against the back of the of the wall units. there were too many luckys for me not to take the hint and charge safer. raggy

Advice seemed to work Lilac..many thanks Shocking pics raggy, very scary. I never leave any batteries (inc mobile phone) charging whilst I'm out of the house. I don't even leave any charging over night, just don't want to risk it. A charger does seem a good idea tho'.
