"each 10ml bottle contains 235mg of nicotine"
What!? This is insane and very worrying. The e cigs themselves were unsafe as well. This is not good.

It doesnt look good at all, I bet there are a lot of markets and car boot sales doing exactly the same.

I'm not sure how it works but the lethal dose of nicotine for adults is around 40 to 60mg, around 10mg in children. I've read that smoking 20 real cigarettes equates to absorbing about 30mg of nicotine. Therefore 40 cigs could kill? I'm guessing this has something to do with how your body metabolises the nicotine. So you would have to get 40-60mg in one go maybe?
I've also read if you are vaping and you vape the equivalent of 20 cigs, you are absorbing the juice strength in nicotine. For example if you consider one cart to equal 4 cigarettes and go through 5 carts in a day you would have absorbed 18mg of nicotine from an 18mg strength juice.
I may have this completely wrong. In any case a 10ml bottle containing 235mg of nicotine sounds dangerously high. If any of those kits have been sold and get misused there could be even worse news to follow.

Total idiots! That puts the cause back quite a bit.
There's always someone who'll see a chance to make money whilst not having a clue or giving a damn about what they're doing.

If each 10ml bottle contained 235mg doesnt that make it about 23.5 mg per ml ?
Or i am using the wrong method of calculation ?
You wouldn't vape anything like 10ml in a day would you ?
For the sake of clarity.... how is the nic level measured ? I bought 30ml ofliquid with a nic level of 24mg Surely that doen't mean that 24mg is per 30 ml does it ? I would've thought the level would be measured 24mg per ml. But what do i know ?

You may well be right Delboy, they could have made an error on the labels.
I always imagined it was so many mg of nicotine per 10ml of eliquid, James could possible clarify?

I just found this which clears it up for me. e-cigexpress.com/blog/tag/e-juice/It makes much more sense now. This means that the 10ml bottle is just a 24mg bottle of e juice. Well within the norm but the misuse message still applies. Drinking a 10ml bottle would be very dangerous. The fact that the electrical side of things was not safe is an easier issue to address.

I think a lot of this stems from the "e cig" not being taken on as a serious device for getting people off of inhaling "Tobacco" . It's all kind of underground.

I thought (and still do) that a 24mgs liquid means you have 24mgs of nicotine in each ml.. So that would be pretty accurate to have 235mgs of nicotine in a 10ml bottle of e-juice! 0o

Yes - most people are ill informed about the potential dangers. I misread the story as 235mg/ml not a 24mg 10ishml bottle in my first post - apologies for that - and I have now editted it. The problem here though is the lack of labelling and CHIP compliance - not the contents of the bottle.
When I first started vaping there were only a few major vendors that were CHIP compliant but most established vendors now correctly package and label their eliquid. It is these details that really do need to be adhered to by ALL vendors to stop stories like this giving a negative impression of ecigs.

It i also the way news are published that makes misunderstandings arise even to more experienced vapers, but I suppose there's little we can do to sort it out! Even the nicotine concentrate liquid for DIY don't hve that kond of dosage xD We must be aware that vaping isn't completely risk free unless you're vaping 0nic, and even though you can't be totally assured. It is important that vapers don't get blind just because they found something that is LESS HARMFUL than smoking analogs. We must be conscient people! Moderation is the key and it also helps our cause if we recognize that it might bring some problems. It's not the information about possible threats that vaping may bring, it's the way this information is spread. Vaping isn't a miracle, and it won't substitute real cigs unless you really want to! It isn't a way of saving money and your health! If you want to save money you will look for cheaper products which may have the problems mentioned above: mislabeling, electrical issues etc.. On the other hand if you're looking to save your health, you will buy expensive "premium" e-liquids that MUST be properly labeled, and expensive e-devices that follow norms of security such as venting holes, protected batts etc... It's like anything else in life! The main problem with selling e-cigs is that the product itself may blind potential buyers and lead them to illusions of grandeur!! It doesn't turn out THAT easy or cheap to vape! You must spend a lot of time getting properly informed as to which products and sellers are worth your confidence!!
